Knot Name: EJacks84
Wedding Date: February 28, 2009
Knot Annie: Tell me about the Knotties on your board that you post on. Have you ever joined them for a GTG?
EJacks84: I regularly post on the Central FL board. The Knotties have been extremely helpful -- full of advice and offering opinions. I’ve been to a couple of GTGs in the past but haven’t been to any lately. The GTGs that I did attend were really fun.
I also post on the Feb 2009 board. It’s been so fun going through everything at the same time with these Knotties. I haven’t met any of them IRL, as we’re all scattered across the country.
KA: Describe your wedding.
EJacks84: The color scheme was red, black, and silver, and we incorporated a double hearts motif. We created a monogram early in the planning process and incorporated it from the beginning. It was part of the save-the-dates, invitations, programs, and other stationery.
The outdoor ceremony was short and sweet. Our main focus was to make sure our guests enjoyed a fun party. The cocktail hour featured ’80s music. We did this because a bar we’d go to for happy hour every Wednesday played ’80s music. There was a martini ice luge, which also incorporated the double hearts motif. Our DJ was fun and energetic and got people on the dance floor. The dance floor was never empty.
KA: How have the Knotties on your board helped you plan?
EJacks84: Most of my vendors were hired based on their recommendations. I’ve also gotten a lot of good deals. For example, if there’s a coupon code, sale, or website with really good prices, Knotties pass on the information to everyone.
KA: Favorite bio on The Knot and why?
EJacks84: ChiMonique: Her wedding color scheme was similar to mine so I got a lot of great inspiration from that. She also did a lot of DIY projects, which turned out beautifully. The best part was she included step-by-step instructions that really helped me with my own DIY projects. She also has a handy template page.
KA: Best vendor that you’ve worked with and why?
EJacks84: My photographer, Nikki Rosa. We booked her a little over a year before the wedding and kept in contact with her regularly throughout the planning process. She shot our engagement photos in downtown Orlando and we loved them. It was so much fun working with her. She also shot my boudoir photos. After seeing her amazing work, we were very excited to work with her on our wedding and see how the photos turned out.
KA: What will make your wedding stand out to your guests, and where did you find the inspiration?
EJacks84: I think all the personal touches to really make the wedding “us” stood out. For example, the groom’s cake was modeled to look like a Negra Modelo bottle (my husband’s favorite beer). Our love of travel was incorporated -- the tables were named after places we’d traveled to together with a photo of us at that location. We also included touches to celebrate my husband’s culture -- a Mexican-themed rehearsal, Mexican wedding cookies as the favor, and so on.
I found inspiration for all of the above by seeing what other Knotties were doing, which helped me think about how we could incorporate our own personalities.
KA: What are you looking forward to most on your wedding day?
EJacks84: The first dance. We took dance lessons and had our first dance choreographed -- a sexy tango. No one knew about it, so it was a complete surprise to everyone. I was most and at the same time least looking forward to the first dance. It caused a lot of anxiety, but in the end, it turned out perfectly.
Thank you EJacks84! I love all of your DIY projects!
