Knot Name: natalee215
Wedding Date: August 14, 2009
Knot Annie: Tell me about the Knotties on your board that you post on. Have you ever joined them for a GTG?
natalee215: The girls on the Destination Weddings board are amazing! My wedding wouldn’t be half as fabulous without them. Lisa7, who used to run our board until her wedding this past April, was so welcoming to me when I first joined. Unfortunately, since we’re not a local board, we’re spread out all over the US and Canada and GTGs are tough, but I’m still trying to get to one eventually.
KA: Describe your wedding.
natalee215: We’re having a beach wedding at Sandals Grande in Antigua. We’re so lucky to have 50 guests traveling to our destination to see us say “I do.” Our ceremony will be on the beach at 4 p.m., followed by a cocktail hour featuring a steel drum band and a dinner reception. We’ve taken a couple of trips to the Caribbean, including our trip last July to St. Lucia where we got engaged at a private candlelight dinner on the beach. It just felt right for us to marry at the place we fell in love with!
KA: How have the Knotties on your board helped you plan?
natalee215: Since I don’t know anyone who’s had a destination wedding, I was clueless about where to even begin. The girls on the DW board have helped me tremendously! Without them, I wouldn’t have done b-pics, made palm fans, created photoshare cards and welcome letters, or found my florist or photographer. Since DWs aren’t the norm, there’s very little etiquette established for them, and without the DW board, I wouldn’t have known where to turn for advice.
KA: Favorite bio on The Knot and why?
natalee215: Both jebuell’s and Lisa7’s bios were the biggest help to me. I couldn’t tell you the amount of times that I’ve visited them for ideas and pictures.
KA: Best vendor that you’ve worked with and why?
natalee215: The wedding is still 2+ months away, but I think I’m looking forward to the work from two of my vendors. Leah Stafford Photography shot my b-pics and they’re amazing! She’ll be making the trip to Antigua with us. I’m also using Angel’s Accents for my flowers. I hated the idea of not knowing what my flower options were until I got to the resort, so when I saw the beautiful work at Angel’s Accents, I decided to go the “real touch” flower route.
KA: What will make your wedding stand out to your guests, and where did you find the inspiration?
natalee215: Since only one couple who’s attending our wedding has previously been to a DW, I think there’s no way for our wedding not to stand out! Between the steel drum band, the ceremony in the sand, the bright tropical pink and orange colors, and most importantly, the five-day vacation surrounding the wedding, I think that our guests will never forget sharing our special time with us. I took my inspiration from our location. I made the tropical feel become our theme.
KA: What are you looking forward to most on your wedding day?
natalee215: I’m looking most forward to seeing my fiance waiting for me at the ceremony site. We’re staying in separate rooms the night before, so the rehearsal dinner will be the last time that I see him until 4 p.m. the next day. Aside from the wedding day itself, I’m really looking forward to being on a gigantic vacation with all of our closest family and friends.
