Knot Annie: Tell me about the Knotties on your board that you post on. Have you ever joined them for a GTG?
GinaM98: The board I primarily post on is the Central Florida board, and the best word I can use to describe those ladies is "amazing." My fiance and I are getting married in Orlando, Florida, but live in Boston, so booking most of my vendors through telephone calls and email has been tough. The girls have been incredibly helpful and supportive, though. I haven't been to a GTG yet, but next time I'm in town, I’d love to go to one!
KA: Describe your wedding.
GinaM98: This is an intimate wedding. Thirty of our closest friends and family will be making the trip to Orlando with us. Our venue is the Ritz-Carlton Grande Lakes, and it’s nothing short of spectacular. I'm excited to make my "grand entrance" down the glamorous spiral staircase in the Citrus Courtyard! Overall, I want the wedding to feel modern and fun yet still elegant. Our colors are purple and lavender with hints of lime.
KA: How have the Knotties on your board helped you plan?
GinaM98: The question should be: What HAVEN'T they done to help me? Without their words of advice and recommendations, I wouldn’t feel nearly as confident in my vendor choices! Being able to have that first-hand experience and opinions from former brides is worth its weight in gold.
KA: Favorite bio on The Knot and why?
GinaM98: I'm impressed with anyone brave enough to DIY. I’m not crafty enough to attempt some of the projects I see. While there are many great bios on The Knot, there isn't one I regularly look to for inspiration; I've gotten my best ideas from the photo galleries!
KA: Best vendor that you’ve worked with and why?
GinaM98: I'm seven months out, so I haven't selected all my vendors yet. But right now I’d have to say our invitation maker (Etsy seller MakeShiftModern)! I'll be honest, invitations were a detail I didn't have much interest in; I know the Knottie gods are frowning upon that statement, but it's true! She asked me about our venue, colors, and flowers, and within a half hour, I had a custom mock-up sent to my email. She's very talented and creative and has made me excited about invitations!
KA: What will make your wedding stand out to your guests, and where did you find the inspiration?
GinaM98: Nobody we know has had a wedding outside of Massachusetts, so already our wedding will be unique. After the ceremony, we’re planning to make an entrance as a new family in a horse and carriage. I can't wait to see everyone's faces when we do this!
KA: What are you looking forward to most on your wedding day?
GinaM98: I’m excited to see everything come together. I can't wait to see our son (who will be one year old at the time of the wedding) in a little tuxedo...I know my sweet, sensitive fiance will cry while saying his vows and it will be the cutest thing ever.
Thank you GinaM98! I love the idea of a classic intimate wedding. Also, your son is adorable!
