Knot Annie: Tell me about the Knotties on your board that you post on. Have you ever joined them for a GTG?

mikesboo23: My favorite board is the October 2009 board. The girls there are really nice.

KA: Describe your wedding.

mikesboo23: We’re getting married at an inn that’s right on the river. It has a large deck that looks out over the water and hills. The ceremony will take place on the deck with the fall leaves and water in the background. The reception will be in the inn’s activities room. We’re using a mixture of fall colors for the dresses and orange and black for the reception.

KA: How have the Knotties on your board helped you plan?

mikesboo23: As you will hear a million times on every other board, nobody will be quite as excited about your wedding as you are. Well, when everyone you talk to has a wedding in the same month, they ARE as excited as you. It’s great to have people who can be just as thrilled and anxious as you are.

KA: Favorite bio on The Knot and why?

mikesboo23: I’ve seen a lot of them that I like. My favorites are always the ones with lots of creative pictures or DIY stuff.

KA: Best vendor that you’ve worked with and why?

mikesboo23: I’m working with Cassie’s Place in Scottsville, Virginia, for my flowers, and they’re wonderful! I told them I’d like to order a plain bouquet and wrap it myself but have them make matching boutonnieres. They said no problem and flowers for our entire wedding party (including mine) will be under $100. 

KA: What will make your wedding stand out to your guests and where did you find the inspiration?

mikesboo23: Most weddings in our families are in churches, so the location will definitely be something different.  We’re also trying to make everything as comfortable and fun as possible. Our families have complained in the past about weddings with assigned tables, so we’re not having them. We’re replacing the garter and bouquet toss traditions with something another Knottie mentioned: having the married couples come out to dance, then narrowing them down to the ones married longest and giving them the bouquet and garter.

KA: What are you looking forward to most on your wedding day?

mikesboo23: When they announce me as Mrs. I’ll wear my new name with pride.
