Knot Name: Lipshtix
Wedding Date: August 20, 2011
Knot Annie: Tell me about the Knotties on your board that you post on. Have you ever joined them for a GTG?
Lipshtix: My fellow August 2011 Knotties are absolutely the best. Talk about an amazing support group. Questions? They’ve got answers! Pondering something? They’ll validate it for you. Looking forward to getting to know each of them more and more as time goes on (as well as welcoming new ones)!
KA: Describe your wedding.
Lipshtix: Classy and romantic with a few funny punches thrown in here and there; black and white decor and romantic candlelight. (I’ve still got 2 years to narrow it all down!)
KA: How have the Knotties on your board helped you plan?
Lipshtix: Well, because we are all still brainstorming, talking through things has really proven to be helpful! Example: I want to have a somewhat fake cake (I hear it’s all the rage) but I wasn’t sure if it would be looked down upon. Encouraging words are always exchanged and because we are all eager beavers, showing a status of where we all are helps as well!
KA: Favorite bio on The Knot and why?
Lipshtix: My own, of course! Just kidding! I love looking at everyone’s bios, everyone is SO different. (But I am partially biased to my August 2011 girls!)
KA: Best vendor that you’ve worked with and why?
Lipshtix: So far, my ceremony/reception venue. We are getting married and having our reception in the same place, so getting the details down pat was really important to me. I am getting married at Cullen Central Park in Whitby, Ontario, with the ceremony in the gardens, dinner in the banquet hall, and dancing in the lounge/bar area. I’ve always wanted a garden/outside wedding, but an inside reception -- this was the only place in the GTA that I could find that would accommodate without blowing my budget. Not only did they accommodate, but got me so excited that If I could get married tomorrow, I would.
KA: What will make your wedding stand out to your guest and where did you find the inspiration?
Lipshtix: I am a big DIY(er) and have chosen to create a crazy, crazy invitation. In fact I’ve never heard of it being done, but given my media background, decided to go all-out! I am creating a DVD invite, with a cardboard custom sleeve (made to look like a paper invite) as well! I have sewn for quite some time (since I was 10!) and have owned my own business teaching, so it only seems “fitting” that I make my dress. Inspiration? How to show everyone what I’m made of!
KA: What are you looking forward to most on your wedding day?
Lipshtix: Seeing my fiance cry. It might sound a bit sappy, but when he sees me for the first time in my dress, I want waterworks! I want everyone to be looking at me, and I’ll be the one looking at him, that moment where we can feel that “this is it” … *sigh* (I’m such a romantic!)
Thank you so much! I cannot wait to see the dress that you make. Highly impressive!
