lizzonyc spills the details of her interfaith wedding!

Knot Name: lizzonyc

Wedding Date: October 10, 2010

Knot Annie: Tell me about the Knotties on your board that you post on. Have you ever joined them for a GTG?

lizzonyc: I actually have an awesome group of girls on the October 2010 boards.  I've been posting for 10 months now, so I've really gotten to know a lot of the girls...Been there through deaths, pregnancies, engagement parties, save the dates, bridal party drama...We are really a supportive group!  And yes, we just had our first tristate get together in Manhattan.  It went really smooth for the first time meeting.  A few awkward moments, but we did a lot of gabbing and wedding talk of course.  And we even had Anne from the knot come and stop by (thank you again!!)

KA: Describe your wedding:

lizzonyc: Our ceremony is actually going to be pretty cool.  We are getting married on site at the reception hall in a gazebo overlooking the forest.  I am Catholic and my fiance Kal is Muslim, so we are having an interfaith/intercultural ceremony.  We are incorporating both faiths into the ceremony.  Our reception formal, being held in a ballroom.  We are having a belly dancer and drummers for entertainment, draping with uplighting for the room...can you tell I'm excited??

KA: How have the Knotties on your board helped you plan?

lizzonyc: If I have a question, the girls have an answer.  And an honest one.  We try not to sugar coat stuff and tell it how it is (without being snarky!).  I get great ideas from other girls bios and we are always bouncing ideas off of one another.

KA: Favorite bio on The Knot and why?

lizzonyc: I have to say my favorites are girls from the NY board (so I might be biased lol).  One is Jamilynn627 and the other is MrsKocal.  I actually booked Jamies wedding photographer after seeing her bio, and am borrowing her idea for the caramel apple favors.  MrsKocals is another favorite b/c it was one of the first I stumbled upon and opened my eyes to boudoir pictures! LoL

KA: Best vendor that you’ve worked with and why?

lizzonyc: My photographer Matt Ramos.  He and I actually became "facebook friends" and have kept in touch over the months.  He is always prompt with emails and giving me any information.  The way he works with color and light is amazing....Plus he blogs like the day after he shoots a wedding which is amazing!!

KA: What will make your wedding stand out to your guest and where did you find the inspiration?

lizzonyc: I think the merging of cultures will make it stand out.  Like I mentioned earlier, we are having belly dancers and drummers for the evening and will be playing Arabic dancing throughout the night.  Definitely unexpected!

KA: What are you looking forward to most on your wedding day?

lizzonyc: Looking around at the party with Kal...knowing WE did this...WE paid for it, WE planned it...and we are very much making the wedding very personalized to us and our relationship...no cookie cutter wedding for us!
