Knot Name: smcopp89

Wedding Date: October 24, 2010

Knot Annie: Tell me about the Knotties on your board that you post on. Have you ever joined them for a GTG?

smcopp89: I actually joined the October 2010 board over the summer and have just recently become more active on the board. Though I haven’t known my fellow knotties on my board for too long, I have come to find that they are all beautiful, intelligent and helpful people. I’m really lucky to have so many creative people on my board. We all pitch in to bounce ideas off one another and are always there to offer up advice as well. Being a college student, it has been hard to attend a GTG, since I currently live in Indiana, but am from Southern New Jersey, which is where my fiancé, Andrew, and I will be getting married. Hopefully, I’ll be able to attend one soon! I’d love to get together with the girls on my board!

KA: Describe your wedding:

smcopp89: Our wedding is not going to be very traditional; in fact, the only thing that will be of tradition is our vows. Andrew and I have been together since our freshman year of high school, just about five years, so anyone who knows us knows that we are very low key people. We have decided to go down the DIY route, which is slightly stressful, but very exciting. We will be doing everything from the food to the flowers, the invitations to the cake, and all other details in between. I’m even designing and making my own dress with the help of my cousin!

Andrew and I really wanted to make this a family affair, so instead of having a huge wedding party, he will have his brother up at the altar with him, while my brothers will be up there with me.
We are most likely going to have an outdoor wedding, either on a farm or at a state park. To paint a picture in your mind, think a “classic fall” wedding with some vintage and country accents. The main colors throughout the day will be burgundy, gold, burnt orange and chocolate brown. The accent colors, which will mostly be reflected in the flowers are cream, butterscotch, and blush. Our ceremony décor will consist of bulk mums and possibly carved pumpkins, while the reception centerpieces will include flowers, pumpkins, mason jars and candles. The food will most likely be a mix of family favorites. We will also be having a dessert table. All desserts will be homemade and family recipes. I’m also happy to announce that we will be having a bonfire to cozy up around!
I’m so excited! I think it’ll all come together wonderfully!

KA: How have the Knotties on your board helped you plan?

smcopp89: Indirectly, they’ve all helped me plan all aspects of my entire wedding. So many great ideas can be found on my board. We definitely learn and grow with each other; bouncing ideas off one another and giving honest opinions and advice. We all have many different (and alike) points of view, so it’s refreshing to see the many ideas we all offer up and the obstacles we overcome in regards to our weddings and life in general.

KA: Favorite bio on The Knot and why?

smcopp89: I really have to say that I love Jamilynn627’s bio. Both her bio and her fall bio have planted many ideas in my head. She has so many fall-related ideas and collections of pictures of fall-themed weddings. They are very inspirational! I also love Nukke’s bio. She has very vintage-inspired ideas. She is also an October 2010 bride and her bio is very unique!

KA: Best vendor that you’ve worked with and why?

smcopp89: At this point, since my wedding is entirely DIY, I have no vendors, however the people working for the state parks in New Jersey, whom I have contacted in regards to ceremony and reception location, have been very helpful.

KA: What will make your wedding stand out to your guests and where did you find the inspiration?

smcopp89: Since we are doing everything ourselves, our wedding will be very personal and intimate, which should stand out all in its own. Also, as previously mentioned it will very much be a family affair; reflecting traditions in a not-so-traditional sense. I hope for it to stand out in our guests’ minds as being a very romantic, yet fun celebration of our love. I think the bonfire will also be a highlight! I have found most of my inspiration from within, with plenty of help from my fellow knotties and various wedding blogs that I follow.

KA: What are you looking forward to most on your wedding day?

smcopp89: I am definitely, without a doubt, looking forward to walking down that aisle towards the man of my dreams and exchanging our vows, as well as sharing in the joy that we took all of our combined ideas and inspirations and made our day uniquely ours.
