Knot Name: futuremrsbrian

Wedding Date: October 23, 2010

Knot Annie: Tell me about the Knotties on your board that you post on. Have you ever joined them for a GTG?

futuremrsbrian: I participate on my local  board (Detroit) and my club board! And in both places the girls could not be more amazing! They are always willing to lend an ear or a suggestion whether it's wedding related or not! I've met the Detroit girls at a GTG a whole bunch of times! I also had the opportunity to hang with a couple of my club girls at the beginning of the summer :). I don't know how people used to plan weddings without these boards, they are such a great addition to the planning process!

KA: Describe your wedding:

futuremrsbrian: Our wedding is going to be quite traditional, but definitely not stuffy! We are having the ceremony at our lovely little church in Ann Arbor, and the reception will be right up the street at the University of Michigan Union in the Pendleton Room. It was really important to us that we had a connection to the venues, and as UofM alums, this was perfect! Our colors are cobalt blue, copper, orange, and yellow. Rich, saturated colors for fall - without being all fall! We are also going for a vintage great gatsby/art deco theme. The Reception room has wonderful art deco styling, especially in the huge fireplace at the end of the room, we hope to have it lit!. Since we're going with a vintage gala theme we're going quite formal. Black tie optional and a wonderful sit down dinner.

We will be doing all the wedding trappings, bouquet and garter toss/cake cutting/first dance/all of it! They may be cheesy now, but I want those cheesy memories!

KA: How have the Knotties on your board helped you plan?

futuremrsbrian: They have helped me in lots of ways! The Detroit girls are able to help me with vendors, and the oct 2010 girls are great for keeping me on a good timeline. I also post a bit on the vintage weddings board. I've gotten so many great touches from them, and vintage resources to boot!

KA: Favorite bio on The Knot and why?

futuremrsbrian: Hmm, that's a tough one! There are some great bios. I really like hippie4yahweh's bio, she has some amazing DIY stuff! I also really like lizzonyc's. Their proposal story is so cute!

KA: Best vendor that you’ve worked with and why?

futuremrsbrian: Amanda Williams! She's our totally awesome photographer. We did our engagement photos with her this summer and had an amazing time (and of course the pictures turned out great). So I know that she will be perfect for our wedding day as well.

KA: What will make your wedding stand out to your guests and where did you find the inspiration?

futuremrsbrian: I think our wedding will be unique for a few reasons. Firstly, we will be the very first of our friends to have a wedding that's NOT in the summer! So that makes for a very different experience from the start. Then, the other reason is a little more ambiguous, but every time I show anyone something from our wedding they answer "that's so you guys"... I'm still not sure what that means exactly, but it will certainly make the day unique!

KA: What are you looking forward to most on your wedding day?

futuremrsbrian: I am looking forward to a lot of things, but mostly FINALLY being my fiance's 'mrs.' We've been together a long time, and we've known we would be together from the beginning, so actually getting that point is really exciting! I am also really excited to dance with my dad. I'm a daddy's girl, and I know how important it is to him, he's been trying to pick a song for 6 months already!
