Knot Name: squirrly

Wedding Date:  May 8, 2010

Knot Annie: Tell me about the Knotties on your board that you post on. Have you ever joined them for a GTG?

squirrly: I post on Kentucky, Louisville, Invitations & Paper, Etiquette, as well as occasionally on Budget, DIY, & Registry and Gifts.  So far I've only met one other knottie (LouisvilleBride21), but we're trying to get a G2G together after the first of the year for the KY-TN-OH knotties on Etiquette.  Overall, I'm chattiest with the group on Etiquette.  Lots of smart ladies in a variety of places, careers, life stages, etc.  They put great perspective on things!

KA: Describe your wedding.

squirrly: We're expecting about 120 guests for a garden ceremony and tented reception at a golf course in my hometown.  We have lots and lots of out of town guests, so we're working really hard to give them a "best of Kentucky" experience - complete with a trip to Churchill Downs (home of the Kentucky Derby), and a bourbon distillery tour.

KA: How have the Knotties on your board helped you plan?

squirrly: Absolutely!  They helped me find my veil, opened my eyes to Etsy, and have given me candid opinions on several things - a fascinator, favor ideas, decor plans, and much more.

KA: Favorite bio on The Knot and why?

squirrly: It's awfully hard to pick just one.  TideTravel, emarshall117, JanuaryBride, and chimonique all have lots of great inspiration.  I love crafty DIY things - but only if they are really well done, and these ladies succeeded at that.  Their bios have great step-by-step instructions, photos, and more.

KA: Best vendor that you’ve worked with and why?

squirrly: I had a couple of bad experiences with bakers to start, but since then it's really been extremely positive.  I LOVE my photographer (Bella Grace Studios), but I also really love all the etsy sellers I've worked with.

KA: What will make your wedding stand out to your guest and where did you find the inspiration?

squirrly: I hope that our wedding showcases both of our personalities.  We both really love our geographic roots (Kentucky for me, and Boston for FI), and we're trying to showcase that.  We actually got engaged at Churchill Downs and both love horses and horse racing, so we're trying to weave that in when and where we can.

KA: What are you looking forward to most on your wedding day?

squirrly: Being married!  And, I'm pretty excited about our cake (white chocolate & raspberry with buttercream) and the champagne we're toasting with.  It's an awesome red Italian sparkling wine.  So many people think they don't like champagne because all they've ever had is cheap "wedding champagne."  FI and I both love this wine (Rosa Regale), and I really hope our guests do too.
