Knot Name: CTbride79

Wedding Date: October 2, 2010

Knot Annie: Tell me about the Knotties on your board that you post on. Have you ever joined them for a GTG?

CTbride79: I am a regular on the October 2010 club board, and it really is a great group of girls (the best in my opinion)!  We are all really supportive, friendly to one another, and helpful.  It really is like having another network of friends that just happen to live all over the country; and I like to think many of us will remain in touch even after we’re married.  I’ve been to one get together so far, which was held in NYC on October 10, 2009 to celebrate our one year marks.  We had an awesome time, and were also super excited to receive gift totes from The Knot!  We are currently planning another NYC get together, to be held in late January 2010.

KA: Describe your wedding.

CTbride79: Simply speaking, I would like our day to have an overall feeling of rustic elegance, with a traditional flair.  Our colors are chocolate brown, burnt orange and sapphire blue.  I love autumn and have always dreamed of a fall wedding, so I really wanted our color palette and reception details to reflect the season.  Our reception will be at a restaurant called The Mill on the River, which was at one time a working grist mill.  The grounds are really beautiful, and as the name indicates, right on the water.  We plan to hold our ceremony there as well in a gazebo overlooking the river, with our cocktail hour on the boardwalk (weather permitting).  With the leaves just starting to change colors, I think it will be breathtaking!

KA: How have the Knotties on your board helped you plan?

CTbride79: They have helped me in so many ways so far during this process…where do I begin?  From the girls on my club board giving me feedback (or reassurance) about my latest crazy idea or potential wedding purchase, to the girls on my local board giving me helpful vendor recommendations and reviews, the Knot boards have literally become my wedding bible!

KA: Favorite bio on The Knot and why?

CTbride79: I honestly tried to pick one and couldn’t!  (Seriously)!  Many of the girls on my club board have really awesome and detailed bios.  I think as a group we are a really organized bunch and all put a lot of time and effort into sharing our info and ideas through our bios.

KA: Best vendor that you’ve worked with and why?

CTbride79: Our DJ, After Hours DJ Entertainment.  They had received fantastic reviews from the girls on my local board, so I had to check them out.  They grabbed our attention right away with the personalized booklet we received in the mail prior to our face to face meeting, and when we met with our DJ, Peter, in person, it confirmed for us that the great reviews were true.  He was really personable, confident, and made us feel like he would really take care of us and make our wedding a night to remember!  Both he and the owner, Bert, have also been prompt to answer any questions, and have just been a pleasure to work with so far in general.

KA: What will make your wedding stand out to your guests and where did you find the inspiration?

CTbride79: I think the little rustic touches will stand out to our guests.  For instance, I plan to make escort card holders out of wine corks, which will tie in nicely with the photo guest book I’m designing from our engagement photos, which were taken at a farm/winery, and we are currently considering making our own wine as favors.  I haven’t met with a florist yet, but I really want the room to have a cozy, welcoming feeling…I envision country style floral arrangements in shades of orange, which I think will add a lot of warmth.  Speaking of warmth, I'm also kind of hoping for a chilly day, because there is a fireplace in our room which I think would be amazing to use in setting the autumn mood.  My inspiration comes from what I love about the fall…warm, rich tones and that feeling of cozy, New England charm.

KA: What are you looking forward to most on your wedding day?

CTbride79: We are having a long engagement (just over 2 years), so there will be a lot of build up for both of us until that day.  What I’m looking forward to most is that special moment when my fiancé sees me for the first time as his bride.  I knew the wedding dress I chose was “the one” when I could picture myself in it at the end of the aisle, [hopefully] taking his breath away.  Just the thought of that first glance between us brought tears to my eyes.

Peter was the DJ for my wedding in July 2009. He was absolutely fantastic!!! We loved him and our guests still rave about him! :) He will make your reception a blast!
