DH, HTH, PIB, YGM, MOH, IMO, DF, FI, TIA, DW, NWR ..... WTH??
"Honey? What does 'DH' mean?" she calls out from behind my monitor.
I reply, "Honey, where's my super suit?" Being avid 'Incredibles' fans; we never tire of this routine...
"WHY DO YOU WANT TO KNOW???"
That done, all I could figure was "Designated Hitter?" But such is not the case in the Knottie world. Clearly the posting Knottie was talking about her loved one - her Husband one would suppose. But what does the "D" stand for??
I've been a blogger for a few years now, and I have read my share of posting shorthand. As a gamer I can tell you, gg means 'good game'; rtv means 'rock the vote' when people want to play a different map; and 'pwned' means that someone is giving you the smackdown like the noob that you are.
And now The Knot has introduced me to yet another whole new set of lingo that, to my slight embarrassment, I could not always figure out from context. As it turns out, "D" stands for "Darling." Seems the Knotties are a tender bunch.
So now I know that FI means "Fiance" (I knew that) as does DF ("Dear Fiance" - I did not know that). And a BM is either a Bridesmaid or a Best Man and not at all what I had previously known it to (medically) stand for.
Now the next time I read a Siggy about the BP (PIB), I'll look back on the immortal words of "Good Morning Vietnam";
Adrian Cronauer: Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? 'Cause if it leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we'd all be put out in K.P.
