5 Things I Love About The Knot

The Knot. SOOO much info here. Now that I'm back from my trip, I'm spending a lot of time catching up on The Knot. Today I felt like extolling those things which I LOVE about The Knot:
1) Local Message Boards: Looking for Vendor recommendations? Here's the place. From Raves to Warnings and honest opinions in between. I came to wedding planning none too savvy with the wedding industry and The Knot's Local Message Board has put me in touch with real people talking about the venues and vendors I have to choose from.
2) National Message Boards: Need some ideas? From DIY to How-To to What About. I have several Steno pages worth of interesting ideas to make our wedding personal and special to us. Many are ideas I would never have come up with on my own.
3) Pictures: I'm a visual person. A description alone isn't good enough for me, I need to see it to know if I'll like it. And The Knot has lots of pics for me to peruse while I'm trying to decide what I like and what I don't.
4) The Blog: I have to admit, I like it. And this is a safe and lovely place to write without feeling committed to writing in a blog forever. If I wanted to do that, I'd start a journal.
5) Access to impartial, I-Love-All-Things-Wedding people. Real people. People whose sole purpose that day is to make their opinions known - all I need do is ask them a question. This proves to be a great relief to all the other people around me who just want me to stop talking about it for an hour or two.

The Knot - it's not just for Brides. Well, mostly it is but I can get a kick out of it too, sometimes. So now it's my (the Groom's) turn:
1) I now know what Taffeta is. And did you know there is more than one kind??
2) Honey, what does a Hydrangea look like? [clickety tappity click] Ooooh - THAT's what one looks like. Okay, they're not bad.
3) I love, Love, LOVE reading about the Bridezilla's out there and knowing my Honey IS NOT ONE OF THEM! In her worst moment so far, she was stressing out about which hall to book. Then we picked one - problem solved.
4) The Blog. My usual audience would probably not be as interested in reading nothing but wedding posts. Here - no problem! And I love that she is now blogging too. I always liked her style but she never put it anywhere. No matter how few her posts are, I like reading them. Plus now I can tell others "Yeah, we're Bloggers. We like to Blog."
5) We never run out of things to talk about. If we don't feel like talking about Politics, Religion, or the Weather, we can talk about the wedding. Or at least about the drama on the NEY board!
