1 cup 0% fat milk

2 frozen bananas

6 fresh or frozen strawberries

Place the bananas, strawberries , and milk in a blender. Blend until thick and creamy. If you like your shakes thinner use 1.5 frozen bananas. This will make one large shake.

These shakes are healthy and a great substitute for ice cream shakes. Keep frozen bananas in the freezer if you like these shakes.

My name is Vic Shallow and I’m a personal trainer and owner of the website www.theplaceforfitness.com. The holidays are fast approaching with all the great food and weight gain that goes with it so I thought this tip might be helpful.

One of the main reasons people can’t achieve permanent weight loss is that they try to lose it too fast. Nutrition scientists have known for years that on extreme low calorie diets up to 45% of the weight loss is caused by the body using it’s own muscle tissue for fuel. Muscle is the main body component that burns fat. Therefore when someone loses a lot of weight quickly, and then returns to a normal calorie intake, their body has less ability to burn the calories and they gain all the weight back and then some. A good goal would be to lose no more than 1 to 2lbs of fat per week. Go ahead and enjoy the holidays but try eating more frequent smaller portions. When the holidays are over and you find yourself wanting to drop a few pounds remember the 1 to 2lbs rule.
