Wedding Decor: Sustainable Floral Arrangements

Ever wonder what happens to all those gorgeous blooms after
the wedding? Unfortunately, most times they end up in the trash. Take eco-chic
to the next level by using sustainable floral arrangements. Great Performances,
in collaboration with Botanica (a floral design company) and Just Food (a non-profit
food organization), have teamed up to start "The Flower Project." Botanica
creates stunning sustainable floral arrangements that are later donated to Just
Food to be planted in community gardens or urban farms. Although this project
is solely in New York City,
you can talk to a florist in your area about creating centerpieces that can be
planted post-wedding in your backyard. Not only is it beautiful but a great memento
from your wedding day.
