Getting In Shape: 4 Expert Bridal Fitness and Wellness Tips

We spoke with Violet Zaki, Exercise TV Start Trainer, and she gave us a rundown of must-follow tips to staying healthy and looking great on your wedding day...                   

                     

Tip 1. Fuel Your body right. Save indulgences like rich desserts and sweet, high-calorie cocktails for your honeymoon. The best diets incorporate an array of fresh vegetables, fruits, and lean proteins. And don't forget your grains! Eat complex carbs -- think whole-grain everything -- early on in the day to help boost energy and keep you on track.

Tip 2. Give your posture periodic check-ups throughout the day. Whether you’re walking, shopping, or sitting at your desk, be sure you're sitting and standing tall by lengthening your spine upward. If you find yourself hunching over, roll your shoulders back by relaxing your shoulder blades back and down as you lift your chest and breath deeply. Practice good posture and you’ll not only look more confident and graceful, you'll also look instantly slimmer.

Tip 3. Never skip meals. Instead, graze throughout the day by eating mini meals (like fruit, veggies, and nuts) every 3-4 hours. This will help maintain a high metabolism and keep your blood sugar leveled throughout the day, so you won't feel deprived or have the urge to over-eat.

Tip 4. Vow to get plenty of rest. Chronic stress and sleep deprivation can actually lead to weight gain, especially around your midsection. Try a yoga class, daily meditations or simply a relaxing bath at the end of the day to keep stress at bay.
