Wedding Decor: Vintage Hawaiian Theme

Posted Tuesday, July 01, 2008 9:46 AM

I love the playful, laid-back style of this vintage Hawaiian-themed wedding. The Knot's Real Wedding couple, Yvonne and Bill, wed on a plantation in Maui, Hawaii and incorporated old school tropical flavor with unique twists.

The Details...
Mokara orchids in orange, red, and yellow filled the bride’s bouquet and accented the simple three-tiered cake -- but rather than typical bride and groom toppers, they used his and her ukulele players. In lieu of centerpieces, the couple stacked woven lauhala leaf boxes decorated with orchids in the middle of the table. Each box was filled with Hawaiian cookies and doubled as the favors.

What I Love...
My favorite idea from this kitschy wedding is the vintage Hawaiian postcards. The couple pre-stamped each one and asked guests to mail them a special note -- weeks after the wedding they still received reminders of their wonderful day.
