Wedding Decor: Shabby Chic Nuptials

Posted Tuesday, July 08, 2008 11:26 AM

Yellow is one of my favorite colors, so it’s no surprise Karima and Aaron’s nuptials caught my eye. The Iowa City couple created the ideal summertime wedding scene with shabby chic flair.

The Details…
In an open field, underneath a birch huppah built by the groom’s father, the couple exchanged vows. For a home-made feel, escort cards (designed to match the huppah’s yellow and white cover) hung from raffia by mini clothespins as wildflowers from a local farm adorned each table. The favors, jars of natural honey, were stacked on cake stands and surrounded by Mason jars filled with wands.

What I Love…
Karima and Aaron used local elements and DIY-techniques whenever possible. It goes to show you can incorporate eco-conscious ideas into your wedding without becoming an eco-maniac.
