Reception Ideas: After-Dinner Belly Dancers?

Posted Monday, August 18, 2008 12:47 PM

One way couples are amping the wedding reception entertainment is by adding belly or hula dancers to the evening. After dinner Balinese dancers welcomed everyone to the dance floor at Sylvia and Mike’s Mission Hills, Kansas wedding...

What do you think? Would you consider hiring dancers for your wedding?

re: Reception Ideas: After-Dinner Belly Dancers?

My friend Tammy did. With the crowd she had it was a hit! : )

My FI and I were going to have his brother-in-law spin fire at our reception. I thought about hiring a belly dancer (a friend of a friend) but it would cost us extra and we're on a budget. Plus I don't think my mother-in-law would like it, she's not very "open-minded"...meaning she'd be offended by the show of skin and the dance itself.

Fire spinning is awsome though. Chris can coordinate his dance to the music and put on a great show. His girlfriend can also spin fire and I was hoping that she'd do it too : )

For me since I am a Hula dancer, I have decided to Suprise my FI by dancing to "the hawaiian wedding song" after dinner.  But I have danced for a friend of mine's wedding and her guests loved it.  If i didn't dance myself i would probably consider having someone else dance/preform :)
