Reception Ideas: Upscale Picnic

Posted Monday, August 18, 2008 3:27 PM

When the weather warms up, it's tempting to have your reception under the sun. But you don't have to feel limited to the outdoors. Bring a fresh-from-the-fields look into any indoor space with a cool color palette and plenty of bright blooms.

Angel and Jason chose a bright green, yellow, and white color palette for their summer wedding in Hopewell, Virginia. They chose an event space with plenty of windows for natural lighting and covered tables with yellow linens and gingham-printed overlays. At the center of each table, daisies and salidago overflowed clear glass vases filled with water and a fresh lemon. The couple built a five-tiered display covered in green linen and tied with yellow ribbons. One hundred yellow iced cupcakes lined the tower. Adorable!

I am also having cupcakes in lieu of a traditional cake.  My fiance and I tried to make a "tower" exactly like yours out of cardboard but failed.  How did you make the cupcake tower?
