Ceremony Decor: Hanging Paper Cranes as Ceremony Decor

A great DIY project: Hanging paper cranes up as ceremony decor. That's what Terri and Sean did for their outdoor ceremony in North Carolina. More than 1000 paper birds, hand-crafted by the couple with help from family and friends, hung from a bamboo frame behind the ceremony spot. The DIY project was a way to honor Sean's Buddhist beliefs and the time he spent living in Japan. The time and energy it takes for the couple to make the cranes symbolizes the patience and trust necessary to sustain a marriage over time.

Not only are they great for ceremonies, but you can hang them up at your reception too! String them over the entryway or in small clusters over each table. To tie in the elaborately printed origami-style paper, use it as the background for escort and menu cards, table numbers, and as a lining for centerpiece vases.

Get step-by-step origami crane directions from the International Crane Foundation. For supplies check out PearlRiver.com.

re: Ceremony Decor: Hanging Paper Cranes as Ceremony Decor

We are hangin cranes from the tree that we will be standing under when we have our non-denominational ceremony. I started and realized how long 100 cranes were going to take so i enlisted my honor attendant and maid of honor who happen to be my best friend (soon to be brother in law) and sister!
