I did a double-take when I saw this centerpiece (created by the talented Lisa Thomas from Out of Hand in Charleston, NC). This square vase was covered with signature paper from one of my favorite everyday stationery lines, Snow and Graham. Imagine the versatility -- just about any piece of patterned card stock will work.
Like this idea? Spruce up your cocktail hour and make a few paper-covered vases for your cocktail tables (find inexpensive 5"x5" vases at your local Hobby Lobby or Ikea). Then have your florist or a trusted friend add flowers the day-of. You can save those dinky votive candles that venues usually provide for cocktail hour to surround the arrangements.
Love this idea? Print this out, get with your florist, and ask him to add patterned paper-covered vases to your reception tables. Note: The key to pulling off this look is to make sure that your flowers don't compete with the pattern. So think monochromatic flowers (in blush, white, ivory, pale yellow, or green) and let the pattern speak for itself.
