Reception Ideas -- New Dessert Bar Ideas

I can't deny it: I'm obsessed with chocolate. So when I walk into a wedding and see clear jars filled with chewy candy in the couple's wedding colors, I think, "Oh, that's cute. Now where's the chocoloate?" 

If you too are a chocoholic, you know that s'mores satisfy your sweet tooth. For their wedding in Boulder, CO, Darcie and Andrew got a fire going and invited their guests to roast marshmallows to make their own s'mores.

Not every venue comes with a working fireplace (mine sure didn't!), so consider this sweet treat: Chocolate-dipped Rice Krispie Treat pops. These, made by Occasions Caterers in Washington, DC, for Martha and Stephen's wedding in Alexandria, VA, were a huge hit.

Don't forget to invite me if you put these on your dessert bar!

I am totally psyched at seeing this idea posted here! My fiance and I are planning a very laidback, casual Reception that is kid-friendly and most of all FUN, and this is one of the ideas that we wanted to implement!  My FH's Mom wasn't sure it would be "appropriate" for a Wedding Reception but now I have all the confidence in the world that this is going to be a HUGE hit with our guests! I will be sure to post photos!

Oh, mothers-in-law. Gotta love 'em. For a casual reception, this idea is beyond perfect. I'd steer you away if you were having a black-tie affair, but even then, exceptions can be made with the right presentation!
