I know, I know, if designers were throwing dresses at you, begging you to wear their designs like the celebrities from the Oscar's, then you would have no use for our online dress search or reading this here blog. But I say, just because a 60-year-old vintage Pierre Balmain dress isn't in the cards for your wedding day, doesn't mean you can't steal a little inspiration from the celebs. We --actually, our in-house fashion guru, Heather Levine -- hand-picked three dresses from the Oscar's with total wedding dress potential...
1. Draping and a Notched Neckline
It's all in the details. Find a dress with intricate draping and/or a notched neckline like the Elie Saab gown that Evan Rachel Wood wore. With a neckline like this one, you can skip the necklace and splurge on the sparkly chandelier earrings.

2. A Vintage Ball Gown

Penelope always looks good but she was a goddess in this vintage Pierre Balmain design. Get yourself a ball gown with character -- borrow your mom's and have it altered, search vintage shops, or choose a new dress and have old details (the lace from your grandmother's veil?) added onto it.

3. An Ultra-Modern Mermaid-Style Dress

The very popular mermaid-style dress goes ultra-modern with this Dolce & Gabbana dress worn by Grey's Anatomy, Melissa George. The flared skirt is dramatic and eye-catching, though you might want to change into something a little less constricting for the dancing portion of the evening!
