Reception Ideas - Create a Family Tree for Your Reception

Posted Tuesday, May 05, 2009 7:10 PM

What better way to honor the bringing together of two families (and the building of a new one) than with a family tree? Allyson and Pierce from Georgia (soon to be a real wedding feature in our local Georgia magazine) put this one together for their wedding and you can too!

re: Reception Ideas - Create a Family Tree for Your Reception

I love this idea! My family is very important to me and what a great way to honor them! My question is how do you handle divorces or deaths in the family on the tree? On a real family tree it's marked who's diceased. Do you just have them on the tree and not mention if they're live or dead?

I don't think you need to distinguish living relatives from deceased ones. As for divorced couples, you can have individual photos of the man and the woman on the same branch, but still have any children they had on a branch underneath them.

I love the idea and this it is too cute, just one hitch in planning my tree.  My future mother in law lives in Montana, I & the wedding are in Texas, and she has limited numbers of pictures.  What could we do in place of pictures?
