The New Wedding Cupcakes? Donuts!

That's right. You saw it here first. Donuts are the new wedding cake alternative. Set them up on trays and scatter them around a pretty cake stand. This couple upped the ante by ordering extra-special ones from Dee's Mini Organic Doughnuts (OrganicDonuts.com) -- aka, fresh, all-organic deliciousness.

PS - If you love this idea and happen to live in South Florida, you're in luck! You can actually rent a mini donut-making machine from a company called Donut Divas (DonutDivas.com) for your wedding -- yum!

Nope Seen it before on websites making fun of the couple for it. Calling them cheap rednecks. which i dont think is fair. The past two weddings i went to the cake was covered in fodant and filled with guava. Double nasty, Id take a donut any day.

You're right! I do remember the Krispy Kreme truck idea from a few years back (still v. cute!) -- but mini doughnuts from your favorite bakery in flavors like Dagoba Chocolate Orange is definitely a fun new twist on the cupcake table!

We did something similar for our wedding and had several small tiered stands of donuts at the cake table. We used Mighty-O Donuts, a local organic donut shop near our house in seattle. I know they have been doing this for a while as my fried did one big donut pile for her wedding a few years back! It is a great idea though and all of our guests really enjoyed it. Plus the donuts looked beautiful! Thanks MIGHTY-O!
