Ribbon Boutonnieres and Paper Bouquets

Posted Wednesday, September 30, 2009 8:23 PM

Don't get me wrong: I love flowers. But every once in a while, a non-floral item comes along that blows me away. This time, there were two. The paper-flower bouquet on the right is more gorgeous than some real-flower bouquets I've seen. Too intimidating to DIY? The ribbon boutonniere on the left looks a lot more uncrafty-friendly.

I'm thinking of trying my hand at paper flowers.

Does anyone have step-by-step instructions on how to make either of these?  I think I could pull off the boutonniere, but I like the bouquet too, it would be nice to make as center pieces and then you know the "flowers" would be the colors you want.

I actually think the blue boutonniere is prettier than some real flower boutonnieres!  I'll bet its cheaper too.  Really lovely!

You can get the directions for both projects on martha stewarts wedding website.  I made several ribbon boutonnierres and they came out great.  Shop the sales at the craft store and you can end up with all that you need for $3.  I used 3 different kinds of ribbon in different colors for mine to vary it a bit.
