It's a Blog

Originally, I'd planned to write about non-traditional registries today. But, if I did, I'd be ignoring the elephant in the room -- the small-scale hysteria caused by my blog entry yesterday. Of note was this thread posted on the Los Angeles board last night, followed by this thread, and then followed by this thread.
I think the title of today's entry pretty much says it all. It's a blog. It's a collection of my personal thoughts, and I am but one insignificant person in this world. For someone to think what I say in my blog would influence anybody's opinion on anything is asinine. Who even reads my blog? On a good day, I get a smattering of hits, consisting mostly of my friends and a handful of other beta testers. If anything, the posting of a link to my blog on the Los Angeles board increased my audience exponentially, a result seemingly contrary to my main detractor's goal, which I presume was to quash any negative effect I may have had on a photographer's business.
I didn't broadcast any of these particular thoughts on the far-reaching message boards. I posted on my blog. My blog is not a popular Internet destination. My blog is not a well-publicized site. My blog is not a public forum. It's a blog. It's my blog. You have to seek it out to read it. It's not the front page news, staring at you on your doorstep.
Someone once said that there is no such thing as bad publicity. It seems that Britney Spears is one person holding fast to this aphorism. All joking aside, the allegedly "defamed" photographer may come out on top after this whole purported stink. Fans rushed to her aid. FutureMrsLara wrote, "Nataly got some great shots at my wedding....I'm glad I gave Jr.HighLove a chance...." Likewise, chocolatelvr posted, "She has a lot of talent and potential....I think she will do great things." joellaann aptly observed, "This actually could have been a blessing in disguise. I bet you she had so many hits to her website. As a matter of fact, I am going to ask her to do my second set of engagement pictures...."
So what has happened? The "maligned" photographer is now getting new clients as a direct result of my post! You couldn't buy better publicity.
Negative opinions from a small voice in the dark don't sway anybody, so why get up in arms about a blog that nobody reads? Critics nationwide panned the movie 300. Did anybody care? Over $162 million in gross revenues says no.
I can't think of a better way to end this entry than quoting Hisunicornverse herself, who led the charge to burn me at the stake: "People can make their own informed decisions."
Ms. Lemus may very well be the next 300.
