Wedding Planning and Me

I wholeheartedly believe in the statement: "nobody cares about your wedding but you."  While my MOH and fiance inevitably hear an earful from me everyday about my progress, I make it a point not to discuss my wedding planning at work unless I am asked.  Even then, I try to be considerate and keep my conversations short and simple -- after all, I am at work to work, not to yep about my personal life.

However, this has apparently backfired on me.  My co-workers either think I have no interests in wedding planning or I am anti-social.  While I'll admit that I'm not an outgoing person by nature, I am quite the opposite of feeling indifferent about my wedding.

It makes me wonder: how does one balance on the fine line between being anti-social and being too self-absorbed in one's wedding?

re: Wedding Planning and Me

i, too, am a firm believer in the opening statement.

if people ask, i keep it short and sweet like you but will get a little specific and descriptive on one thing i'm working on at the moment.  for example, "it's going fine.  i'm working on the caterer right now, and it's taking a lot of time to schedule tastings.  we really liked one that we met with last weekend and are considering using them.  thanks for asking."

i blog to get it out, but that's backfired as people i know IRL have found it (but they're planning or on the verge of being engaged, too).  now they know how truly crazy i am.  i also have a nice group of wedding-obsessed friends that i email/chat with ;)

on the other hand, i am very self-absorbed (wedding and otherwise) right now, so of course i try to hide it.  i don't mind if people think i'm anti-social, but i do work in a much smaller office than you ;).  bleh, not helping, eh?
