Kristin
& Anthony
May 3, 2008
Columbus, OH
Planning Details
We're planning
our wedding for May 3, 2008. It will be held in downtown Columbus, Ohio
at Hyatt on
Capitol Square.

Anthony
and I met at work in Wooster, Ohio. Anthony started working at my
full-time job and few
days
later he got an interview at the same place I worked at part-time. It
didn't take us very long to
realize
there
was some kind of connection between us, but we took things very slow at
first because of
our
professional
connections. About five months after we met, I got a job offer in
Newark, Ohio and
moved
to Columbus.
We continued seeing each other and for my birthday in December 2006,
Anthony
proposed while on a carriage ride at
Easton Town
Center.
Now
we have bought our first house and moved to a more central location to
both of our
jobs
and are loving every moment we spend
together!
Our Colors: Red, white
and black
Our
monogram that I made myself in PowerPoint. We will use it in many
different places through out the
ceremony
and reception. I've
also helped out a few other Knotties create their monograms.
If
you need any help with yours feel free to ask me!
You
can usually find me on the May 08 or Columbus boards.

My
engagement ring! I LOVE it!
|
Side
view of my ring, I love
the turned diamonds.
|
Our
venue, as mentioned previously, is Hyatt on Capitol Square. It's across
the street from
the
Ohio State House were we plan to get photos taken on the big day. What
I love most about
the
Hyatt is that it has very rich, beautiful look to the hotel that will
help portray a glamorous
cocktail
party feel for our reception.

The Guys
 |
Anthony
selected these tuxedos from After Hours himself. He wants to wear all
black and have a single red rose for a bout. All of the guys will wear
tuxes like these including the fathers. The only person who might not
wear this is the ring bearer who will be 3 and will probably wear a
vest with shirt and pants. |
The Girls

|
 |
| BM Dress by
Bari Jay #409. Shown in Red. We're going to go with the
two-tone like this. |
Back of the
dress. The sash will be black. |
This is the
color of the dress,
it's called Black/Red. |
 |
 |
BM dresses are in!!
Emily modeling the BM dress. |
And the back side. Her
dress fit perfectly and she will need little to no alterations! |
We've
sure had a lot of fun shopping for BM dresses!
MOH Missy on the left, and
BM Gretchen
on the right. I love my girls!
 |
The jewelry I bought
for my
bridesmaids
from Monique's
Boutique.
I love
them they turned out great!
Emily and
I picked them up from
Monique
the day we also picked up the
bridesmaid
dresses and she tried on
the
jewelry with the dress, they looked
fantastic!!
Monique did an awesome job
and she
was absolutely wonderful to
work with!

The Flower
Girl
 |
 |
 |
Front of the
dress, we will not be including thin stripe of white at the bottom
of the flower. |
The back of the
dress, I love the big bow here, I think it will be great on a 3 year
old. |
The
Flower Girl dress will be made by my Aunt (also her Grandmother). |
The Mother
of the Bride
The dress my mom has
selected for herself, it will be in the color shown.

Me
in my dress! Please excuse the goofy grin, I was very excited to
finally have my dress. I swear it's not my boobs that are incredibly
lopsided, but the modesty panel that
was sewn on crooked. |
Wow it needs to
be steamed VERY badly! I can't wait to see it all finished up and
altered! |
The latest
pictures of my dress from my second to last fitting!
The shoes I bought at Banana
Republic.
I desperately wanted
red in my dress, but it
wasn't available in that color, so I
opted for colorful shoes
instead!

|
 |
The earrings I
picked
up at Icing. |
The bracelet I
bought at Steinmart |
The barrettes I
bought
from whiteaisle.com. |
Something
Old...
The last time I
was visiting my parents, my mom gave me a thin box. Telling me it is
something
I can use for the wedding. Inside the box was this letter on top of
some tissue paper.

It reads (sorry it's a
bit blurry) :
"The
Magic Hanky"
I'm just a little hanky,
as square as square can be,
but with a stitch or two
they made a bonnet of me.
I'll be worn from the
hospital, or on the christening day,
then carefully pressed
and neatly packed away.
On the wedding day, so I
have always been told,
every well dressed bride
must have something old,
so what would be more
fitting than fine little old me -- a few stitches snipped,
and a wedding hanky I'll
be.
If perchance it is a boy,
someday he'll wed,
and to his bride present
the hanky once worn upon his head.
Inside the box under the
tissue paper was this:
My mom had
never once told me about this when I was younger, so it was a big
surprise.
I think it's a
really cute idea and I intend on saving it for our children to use one
day.
Something
New...
There is so
much to pick from in this category my dress, my earrings or bracelet,
the list continues.
Something
Borrowed...
I've borrowed a
ring from my Grandmother to wear. My Grandfather, whom I love dearly and
passed away
when I was in high school, gave this ring to my Grandmother.
Something
Blue...
As a Green Bay Packers
fan, I think this next gesture proves the depth
of my love
for Anthony. I had The Garter Maker make a garter in the
Chicago
Bears colors, and I will buy a Bears pin to attach to it.
Rehearsal Dinner Dress

I picked it up at NY
& Co on sale. I got it for a much better price than
I expected to pay for an
RD dress. I just love the retro look to it!

Wedding Day Beauty
Hair Styles
I'm still undecided just
how to wear my hair, but these are a few of the styles I like.
*Hair pictures borrowed
from knotties animal_lover, kl8108, and also from
the weddingchannel.com.
I
love the front of these styles!
I
think this is my favorite so far.
I'm
fairly certain I'm going to wear flowers in my hair instead of a piece
or veil. I
love the
orchids
in the bouquet and would like something like in my hair, the colors are
great!
The
outcome of my hair trial! I hate the front on shot, I'm making such a
strange
face.
The curls will be a little bit more flowing, it'll also look slightly
more clean in
general
since it will be pinned in more tightly and what not.
Make up
|

|

|

|
|
I
love how Liv's eyes really stand out.
|
I really like this make
up, especially the color on the lips. |
This is also really
nice and she has a similar skin tone and eye color to me. |

The Art Of A Good
Marriage by Wilferd Arlan Peterson
Happiness
in marriage is not something that just happens.
A good marriage must be created.
In marriage the little things are the big things.
It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say "I love you" at least once a day.
It is never going to sleep angry.
It is at no time taking the other for granted; the courtship should not
end with the honeymoon, it should continue through the years.
It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives.
It is standing together facing the world.
It is forming a circle of love that gathers the whole family.
It is doing things for each other, not in the attitude of duty or
sacrifice, but in the spirit of joy. It is speaking words of
appreciation
and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is not looking for perfection in each other.
It is cultivating flexibility, patience, understanding and a sense of
humor.
It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.
It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow old.
It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.
It is establishing a relationship in which the independence is equal,
dependence is mutual and the obligation is reciprocal.
It is not only marrying the right partner, it is being the right
partner.
From: On Relationship by
J. Krishnamurti
Love is something that cannot be cultivated; love is not a thing to be
bought by the mind...Love comes into being darkly, unknowingly, fully,
when we understand this whole process of relationship. Then the mind is
quiet, it does not fill the heart with the things of the mind, and
therefore that which is love can come into being.
Love is both personal and impersonal, is both the one and the many. It
is like the flower that has perfume; you can smell it or you can pass
it by. That flower is for everybody and, for the one who takes the
trouble to breathe it deeply and look at it, a great delight.
Sand
Ceremony
Reverend:
There is a song that speaks of
"a long and winding road" and before you met, your lives were on such a
road... each going in different directions and seemingly leading to
different destinations. But somewhere along the way you took a fork in
the road to a destination called "love" and today you find yourselves
standing together at the entrance of a new path that will join your
once separate journeys into one.
Before each of you there is a container of
sand. Each
container represents the separate journeys you once were on. They also
represent your own sets of friends and families that once were apart. I
will ask that in a moment you both blend your individual container of
sand together... representing the coming together of your friends and
family, through your marriage, into one. And as the sand is blended
into one container, your once solitary journeys will now be one of
companionship, as you walk a single path together into your future.
I now ask that you blend your containers of sand together.
Anthony and Kristin up their individual containers of
sand and blend them together.
As the sand has blended together, your lives are now joined. Your
friends and family are as one as well, for now you will share those who
are in your lives and will walk hand-in-hand along the path of your
marriage - united and strong as husband and wife.

I love how
Buckeye07Bride used
the votives around her cake! I
plan to do something very
similar, maybe doing 3
rows instead of 2. |
 |
Cake Table runner I got
from the Garter Maker. I borrowed this picture from her website too. |
 |
Ring pillow from the
Garter Maker. |
 |
Bouquet sash from the
Garter Maker. |
I
love how Mrs.Tayna2s set up her reception, particularly the table
runners.
I'd like to get black table
runners for our reception.
I would love to
set up our head table like this (photo from candlebio2). I want to
include candles
all over the place! I'd like to
create a nice romantic feel to the
reception with
a soft light created by candles and also our paper lanterns.
 |
I'd like to do
a hurricane like this on the place card table (redbio2). |
 |
Anthony and I
have talked about DIY name cards
and we both
really like these (redbio2). |
|
|
We'd like to
have our table numbers look like this but in our colors to
also match the place cards. We will also put the menu on the
back side of the tent card. |
Another
table card idea from knhohio
Actual
table numbers (more info in DIY section)
Another
option that fits in nicely with the candles would be name "cards"
like
these from candlebio2.
I absolutely
love this idea I found on the knot. I think it would be so
much fun to do! This would also
be really fun to play up the candy buffet.
We're doing a
photo booth for our guests at the reception with our
photograper and
I can't wait to
see all the fun pictures that our guests take! Knottie mrs.julia.goolia had
one at her
wedding and I love how the photos turned out! Looks like so much fun!

Bridal
Bouquet
This is the inspiration for my flowers. The differences will be that my
bouquet will also include peonies, and the stems will be tightly tied
together and wrapped with my bouquet sash.
I apologize for some of these floral pictures, I found them in a
magazine and had to take photos of them with my digital camera. |
 |
Bridesmaid Bouquet
This is basically how the bridesmaid bouquet will look. The florist
will also add some tulips, hypercium berries and maybe peonies too. The
bouquet will be mostly white with maybe a little pink and red as well. |
 |
Flower
Girl Floral
I absolutely love this pomander! Right now the plan is to have a basket
with an arrangement identical to this one. I really want to change that
to a pomander instead. Either way, I think this option is much better
for our FG since she'll only be 3 and I think it will be easier for her
if she doesn't have to toss petals. |
 |
Groom's
Bout
Anthony has said he wants a very dark, almost black, rose for his bout.
We're planning to use a black magic rose for his bout, and a few will
probably be thrown into my bouquet to pull everything together. |
 |
Centerpiece
The centerpiece will a mimic of my bouquet for the most part. It will
probably be less full and there will be some that are low to the table
like this one, and others that will be held in tall pilsner vases. |
 |
The mix of flowers that will actually be
used in the BM bouquets.
Deep red rose, white tulip (possibly parrot tulip), white/pale-ish pink
double tulip, and runuculus in two shades of pink, |
 |
I love how this table
is set up for name cards (ChiMonique) |

Table Runner
|

|
I
was concerned about spending money on fabric for
a DIY aisle runner and completely messing it up.
So I bought enough fabric to make a table runner for
the head table to test my "skills". I had fun working
on it
and I've already bought the materials to
make an aisle runner with our monogram.
It needs some more work to make it look a
little nicer, but it is definitely a learning process. |
Save the
Dates
Using
Photoshop we created Save the Dates ourselves and
uploaded the files to Vistaprint.com
to have them printed.
 |
The front of our postcard. |
 |
The backside of our
postcard.
On this side we included the
date, address of the ceremony
and reception, airport info,
instructions for booking a
room with our hotel block,
and the address for our
knot website where we
even more information
available to our guests. |
 |
The magnet is the
same size as
the postcard and it included
the wedding date and the
address to our wedding website. |

Invites -Inspiration
| Inspiration for our
invitations came from Alaun
by Design.
We had a slightly different idea in mind for how the invitation was
held together, but we loved how the text and colors played together on
the cards inside the inviation. |

The outside of the
invitation.
The black pochettes and
red envelopes were purchased
from envelopemall.com.
The ribbon is double faced satin
that I picked up at JoAnn's
Fabric. All the text was printed
on my inkjet printer using
cardstock. |
 |
The inside of the
invitation.
The layout was created in
PhotoShop, then printed on cardstock from Staples on my inkjet printer.
The striped paper is scrapbooking paper I got at Hobby Lobby.
Hobby Lobby is one of my favorite stores to shop at for DIY project
supplies. |
 |
The
rehearsal Dinner invitations. These were also made in PhotoShop and
were inserted in the invitation envelopes sent to those who will be in
the ceremony. |
 |
 |
The wrap around mailing
labels I made. I saw these in
Martha Stewart Weddings magazine a few issues back.
I love how they look against our red envelopes. |

Table Numbers
| The ispiration for our
table numbers came from knottie 2BMrs.K.
We bought the picture frames from Ikea for a little over $2 for a
package of three frames. Then we painted them black. I printed the
numbers on vellum on vellum we bought at Hobby Lobby for about $4 after
a 40% off coupon. We used Zots to paste the corners of the vellum
to each frame. Finally, we attached the three frames together
by
taping with duct tape. Though it's a bit time consuming, especially
since we have 45 seperate frames, it's a fairly simple DIY project. |
 |
 |
These
are what that frames look with the light in the center. Anthony is
concerned that placing a votive inside will be a fire hazard, so we are
using the LED tea lights instead. I got the LED lights inside these
frames at Hobby Lobby, they're normally 2 for $2.99, but I picked them
up when they were running 50% off all candles. |
 |
Another Photoshop DIY
project, the menu card. I made these
4 inches x10 inches, and was able to place two on an 8 1/2 x
11inch page and cut them out from there. We'll have on menu card placed
at each setting.
I can see menu cards as something that is definitely not necessary, but
we wanted our guests to know what we're serving for dinner since we're
only offering one plated meal (and an vegetarian option) . We also
wanted a place to include a place with a special thanks to my father
for making the cake topper. We thought about putting up one sign by the
place card table, but thought it would be over looked very easily. |
To
go along with our photo booth, I'm going to make a guest book that will
include
photos
of our guests that each will have taken in the booth. I am going to use
scrapbooking
materials to make a book where thje guests just slide their picture
into
some photo corners and then sign what ever message they like.
I
hope to have ours look something like this.

Candy
Buffet
We're going to
do a candy buffet for our guest favors. I think this is going to be an
exciting
addition to the
wedding for both our guests and us! I've already been shopping around
for deals
on candy and
jars for our buffet. Right now we're planning to have all the candy in
red, white or
black but that
is showing to be a bit difficult since there is very little black candy
out there that
is NOT licorice
flavored! Neither one of us like the taste of black
licorice and we want to keep it
to a minimum. I have hope that we'll be
able to find enough candy to create a great looking buffet
and still keep our
color scheme in it. We will probably be adding some pink candy in there
as
well since our invites
and flowers will have a little pink in them as well.

red and white buffet, this one by NYCbridetobee. |
 |
|
I love the set
up of this candy buffet. I'd
like to create a full look like this one
but obviously in our colors. |
|
 |
 |
| Giant Swirl
pop, these are available at Walgreen's for $1! |
We found these
unicorn pops in our colors online from Kendon Candies. |
This was taken
from DietCokeAddict's bio. She and some of her family
members made
these themselves. I'd really like to have one of these
on our candy
buffet. They don't sound overly difficult to make
and I think it
will be a lot of fun to do!
I
made the label using photoshop and
we
plan to have a few of these Hershey's
Candy bars
sitting on our candy buffet.
We also want to
get:
red,
black, white M&M's
Swedish Fish
(one of our faves!)
Twizzlers
Black licorice
bites
Black jelly
beans
Starlite mints
Cinnamon Hearts
Homemade
Chocolate covered pretzels

Honeymoon
Our honeymoon will be a cruise
to Alaska! The ship we'll be taking is the Norwegian Pearl.
We will board
the ship in Seattle, and sail to Juneau, Skagway, Glacier Bay,
Ketchikan,
Victoria, BC,
then back to Seattle.
My parents live in Victoria
and we were fortunate enough to be in town visiting them when
the Pearl ported
there one evening. We went down to the pier and watched all the cruise
ships
come in that
evening. Anthony was so excited, and took TONS of pictures of the Pearl.
That was the day
that completely sold him on taking a cruise on that ship for our
honeymoon.
Here are a
couple of those pictures:
A couple pictures of Anthony

Ceremony/Reception:
Hyatt on
Capitol Square |
So
far Emily at the Hyatt has been great to work with! What attracted us
most to the Hyatt was their affordable package pricing at such a
beautiful upscale venue. I'll have more to share about they Hyatt when
we get more in depth in the planning process. |
Officiant:
Rev. Jane Perkolup |
My
Aunt Jane (who is also my Godmother!) has agreed to marry us. I am so
thrilled that this position of honor will be held by a family member.
It will only make it that more meaningful for us! Aunt Jane lives in
Illinois where she has her own Church and will be making the trek to
Columbus for our big day! |
Baker:
The Pink
Cupcake, Mount Vernon, OH |
I'm
really excited about working with these ladies. Their cakes are
delicious and look lovely! They're also very enthusiastic about the
idea of my father making the cake topper. I think this will end up
being my favorite vendor and the nicest component of our wedding day! |
Florist:
Flowers
on Orchard Lane |
Jan
was the nicest to meet with! She came highly recommended and I was very
excited to meet with her. She had lots of suggestions to help us meet
our budget without compromising the look that we were trying to create.
I can't wait to see how our flowers turn out! |
Photographer:
Matthew's Wedding
Photography |
Matt
Smith was so nice to meet with, Anthony and I clicked with him right
away and loved his photographs! Add to that his reasonable prices, so
we signed with him the first time we met with him. We had so much fun
working with him and his wife, Karen, doing our e-pics session. We're
so glad we booked with him. |
DJ:
Matt Ryan Mobile DJ
Entertainment |
He
was the best price we found while still providing all the basics for
wedding entertainment! He's a DJ at WNCI on the weekends and has access
to a lot of music. I think he'll turn out to be great at our reception. |
Ceremony Musicians:
Davidson
String Quartet |
Their demo CD
was really good and prices very reasonable as well. They are a talented
group! |
Jeweler:
Bohland Jewelers,
Ashland, OH |
We
were very happy to be working with Christian at Bohland. He was very
understanding and such a great guy! He also worked very hard to help us
meet our budget while still providing us with the ring that we wanted.
I can't wait to go back to pick out our wedding bands! |
Tuxedos:
After Hours
Formalwear, Polaris |
Not
much to report here yet. Anthony knew what he wanted to wear so we
booked early with them to take advantage of a special offer that
included discounts and a buy one get one free cruise that we may or may
not use. |
