It was our 4 year anniversary. I went to work like any other day. Dan and I had, in detail, discussed (and argued) over our pending engagement many times. I didn't expect it that day. I just figured he would think I was expecting it so he wouldn't do it that day. Plus, it was just a regular Monday. So, I went to work. I work as a zookeeper at the zoo. I had caught my co-workers whispering behind my back several times that day. Finally, I got fed up and told them it was rude to talk about people behind their back! They came up with some lame excuse but I was still mad so I avoided them the rest of the afternoon. Late in the afternoon, one of my co-workers radioed me and another zookeeper to come to the chimp yard. We made our way out there...only to find...my boyfriend, surrounded by me fellow zookeepers, friends and my mom, on one knee with an awesome ring!! I quickly realized what was happening and ran in the other direction because there were so many camera flashes in my face. And I was ugly crying!! He caught up with me around the corner...and well, now we are engaged. He did such a great job surprising me and involving all my friends, my mother and the chimps I love so much!
