Our Wedding!!
How we came to be..... (by James Estes)

Tiffany and I met through a mutual friend (Daniel aka Juvee), in the summer of July 2007. My sister Septhanie and her family were at a local campground for the 4th of July and I had dropped by for burgers and beer. The weather wasn’t really cooperating and because Juvee's camper is extremely small we were hiding under a canopy and trying to make the best of the holiday weekend when Tiffany showed up with Jim McCauley and his mother-in-law Michelle. I had met her once or twice before but this was the first time we had spent any time talking. She actually stood a bit in the background, taking in the scene and evaluating things. I took note of that; it said something about her that she wasn’t quick to open herself to outsiders without a lot of thought of whether it was worth her time. We weren’t like all over each other, and I still find it amusing when she says I’m sexy, but after that first meeting at the campsite we ran into each other again at the local club scene a few times. She can tell you that I talked a lot on that occasion. I told her about growing up in the Philippines, having come back to Texarkana after being gone for years, and the recent troubles of my love life. Yeah I know, no woman wants to hear about another chick, like I said I talked a lot. I found her real and easy to talk to and I was in a place where I needed to spill…everything. And she was there and willing to listen. I was in a bar when Tiffany walked into my life again, an Irish bar of all places, and she was celebrating her birthday. She talked me into hanging out and she brought me out of my mood, she made me laugh and feel good, and she kissed me with the softest lips. Oh, and by the way, Jennifer you make a lousy wingman, but I love you any way. We parted that night and because of Tiffany's hectic work schedule we didn't get to see each other for about a month. But we would occasionally talk and when we did finally get to see each other again, I found that having her around made me feel good and I wanted to feel that way some more. Now I want to feel that way forever, good and appreciated, and loved as much as I love. It hasn't always been a strawberries and cream relationship but we work things out when they do come up; and I love her for so many reasons even though I don't think I'm good enough for someone so loving and gentle.
The Proposal (by James Estes)

The sun was just beginning to kiss the horizon on the Sea of Cortez as I stood on the balcony overlooking the pool of the Hilton in Cabo San Lucas. The evening was turning cool but I was sweating more than a little bit with anxiety and just a little bit of fear as well because of what I planned to do with the little black box that was tucked away in my pocket. “Are you ready honey?” Tiffany calls from inside the suite, I turn to go inside and Tiffany and I make our way down to the beach through the quiet hotel halls, holding hands and lost in each others warmth and love. The surf rolled and frothed among the tumbled rocks of the breakaway as we walked along the soft sand and watched as the sky shifted colors from orange, red, and yellow to shades of indigo and purple as the first stars of the night winked into being one by one. I felt the butterflies in my stomach doing loop-de-loops as I realized the magic hour was drawing closer, you know the time when it’s not quite dark but the day just doesn’t want give up to the night. I’d been thinking of this moment for quite some time, I never thought that someone so tenderhearted and caring could come into my life and show me how wonderful life could be; Tiffany did that and so much more. She showed me love that was truly unselfish, gave me respect, treated me as her equal; even though I know better and tell her she’s out of my league. She made me want to know more about what life would be like with her, I realized I truly loved her and I wanted to make her my wife. As the stars flared into life and the beauty of the ocean filled our senses, I reached into my pocket and wrapped my fingers around the little box. I turned to Tiffany as we sat on the rocks and watched the endless waves sweep ashore, she could tell I had something profound to say and she gave me her quiet unhurried attention. Looking into her eyes I was captivated and caught up in her, and my breath caught, for a moment my courage slipped; but I found my voice and told her of my love for her. I slipped the band on her delicate finger and asked her for the honor of her hand in marriage. She looked at the ring on her finger and then at me, and I felt that I knew what it was to know true bliss. Her answer was a kiss and a whispered, “yes, I love you so much. I’ll be your wife”. The walk back to the hotel was longer; we kissed a lot, talked about children and what our lives would be like when we were old and gray. It was the talk of lovers, of husband and wife. It was happiness.
