Our Wedding Planning Bio
How We Met

We met in the spring of 2004 at OU while we were both studying meteorology. I was a sophomore, and he was a senior. We both pulled into the Sarkey’s lot at the same time, and he had a lot of weather equipment on his car. I struck up a conversation with him on our way into the building, and apparently he took a liking to me. He invited my studying buddy and I out with his classmates. Being sophomores getting ready to enter the hardest year at the end of that semester, we thought it would be a good idea to meet some older people in our program for copies of previous exams, etc. (seriously...meteorology is tough!). That night we exchanged info and started talking. He later asked me out, and I declined. After going on a 16 hour storm chase together later, and still wanting to be around each other, I changed my mind and thought we might make a good couple. He was still interested, so when I decided to tell him, we were out in the country taking star trails (a type of photography) together, and I told him: "You know that whole dating thing? I think we should do that." We started dating, and we just meshed so well together! We have known for quite some time that we wanted to get married!!!
How We Got Engaged

Bob had planned an elaborate evening of taking me out to that same spot we were taking star trails at when I told him I wanted to date him, planned to do star trails that night, popping the question out there, and then taking me to one of our favorite restaurants, The Melting Pot. Unfortunately, I started getting sick the day before, and by that night, I felt horrible and just wanted to stay in for the night. So we decided to go out for dinner and then just come back home. However, he had already told my mom, dad, brother, best friend, and our boss (he helped him plan a "business meeting" so that Bob had an excuse to get away to make final arrangements), so he was worried if he didn't do it that night, someone would spoil the surprise before he had a chance to propose. On the way out the door, he was very smiley and acting kinda odd. He was sitting on the arm of the couch with me standing in front of him. I asked him what was up, and he said: "You know that whole getting married thing? I think we should do that." Then he told me to step back, pulled out a ring, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him!
About Our Wedding

Besides spring being our favorite season for storm chasing, we both LOVE fall and think it is just beautiful, love the weather, and everything about it. It was not hard to decide to have a fall wedding.

We will be getting married at the Dominion House in Guthrie, OK on October 23, 2010 at 6:00pm. The time may change to 5:30 depending on what kinds of photos we decide to take after the ceremony before sunset. The reception will be immediately after the ceremony in the Grand Ballroom at the Dominion House.
Our Wedding Party

Bob and I will each have 3 attendants. We will also have a flower girl and 2 ring bearers (they are twins). I really wanted the groomsmen to stay with Bob the entire time before the ceremony so he wasn't alone, and we have lots of guys we wanted to include in the wedding, so we decided to have 3 ushers as well. There will be 2 greeters, one from each side, so that hopefully people coming in will have a familiar face.

These Guys (Roy and Jamie) Rock! We have not had any photo shoots with them yet, but we cannot wait to get started. Their images are consistently amazing, we love their philosophies on photography, and they are just a lot of fun to be around.

Chris Cox at A+ Entertainment will be our DJ. He is very laid back and I think fits the style we are going for perfectly, which is classy and elegant, yet fun. We wanted to avoid the loud, club-like DJ's. We can't wait to have him MC our reception

String Quartet: Joe Guevara (viola) heads up a string quartet which consists mostly of Oklahoma String Philharmonic players. Growing up in the Norman music community, I know most of them and they are exceptions. I highly recommend them!
