Our Wedding Plans
Our Wedding Date...

Our Wedding Date is January 1, 2010 (01-01-10). We were engaged in early December 2008. We had no idea what our date would be since the engagement was so new. We decided to pick a date after my mother mentioned what a headache family might be around Christmas with all wedding questions. So, we started looking at dates and New Year's landed on a Friday. It was originally a random just to throw off all the questions and unintended pressure of setting a date. Now, FI is in love with the date so...let the planning begin!
Theme and Colors

Our theme is Modern Vintage New Orleans Jazz ( It all works out in my head, but bringing it to life is turning out to be quite a task). We were both born and raised in New Orleans and, I especially, love the culture. Our colors are black( my favorite color), white, carribean blue/turquoise (FI's favorite color is blue), and damask.
The Ceremony

I would like a candlelight ceremony with a saxophone player providing the music. Here is an aisle lighting idea from Knottie ~mRm~ (orginally from weddingfanatic.com I believe) from when I asked for ideas.
Colors

I also like the idea of adding peacock feathers, but I thought it would be too much with the damask. My wedding is also in Jan, although I'm not really a stickler for following seasonal colors and themes. But I found this on a google search.

The Shade will depend upon the bridesmaid dresses we find. I would like the BM's to choose their own dresses.

What is so funny about this choice of colors is that I discussed it with my mom and FI after attending a bridal show on Jan 4, 09. I left for NYC on the Jan 8th to visit my best friend... and this is her bed



Other color options

I am toying with the idea of having an all white wedding with accents of damask. I love this pic. Maybe it only works with beach weddings though... I found this on (lifelovelipstick.wordpress.com)

I plan to use accents of a marigold/ deep yellow. Maybe in the flowers or centerpieces.


Invitations and Program Ideas

These are the silk dupioni invitations I plan to use. I am DIYing them. I have already ordered the fabric. My invitations will be black.(Confessions Of A Feminist Bride.blogspot.com. I just need to figure out what I would like for the inside.
