Annie and Blake's Planning Bio!
Our Story

We met in February 2006 at an Aggie basketball game. It didn't take long to click because we had our first date a week later, and made it official about a week and a half after that. The surprising part is that we lived 4 hours apart at the time, and continued to do so for the first 7-8 months of our relationship. Apparently, it worked out!
The Proposal

I was going down to Houston to visit Blake for my 24th birthday, in April 2008. The weekend before, he had gotten up early to run errands. Since he usually likes me to run errands with him, I started to get up too. He told me to go ahead and sleep in, at which point I suspected. 6 days later, I drove down on the Friday after my birthday (April 11). Blake and I had lunch, and he confessed that he was going to pick up my ring the weekend before. However, the jeweler had already sold the setting I picked out, so he told me to spend the afternoon picking out another setting at another jewelry store. So I did, of course. I still suspected though, especially when he took me to dinner for my birthday at Cafe Annie, a very nice restaurant in the Galleria area. We got through dinner, no proposal. Oh well. The next morning, Blake and I packed up the dog and drove to Brenham to take pictures in the bluebonnets. We found a field on someone's private property. Luckily, they were home and gave us permission to take pictures. I shot a few pictures of the dog and Blake threw fetch toys and played in the bluebonnets. We got pictures of each other, but none of the two of us together (the dog doesn't have opposable thumbs). Anyway, Blake started taking pictures of me, and wanted me to sit in a certain spot. I did, and Murphy doggy ran behind me. Blake immediately ran over to behind me and started looking in the flowers. I stood up to give him room. He sat up a bit, on his knees, and handed me a Willow Tree Angel statue, one of a couple holding each other. I collect Willow Tree Angels and have gotten one for every birthday and Christmas since we've been together. Then he showed me the ring and he signed, in American Sign Language (I am partially deaf and learning to sign), "will you marry me?" I was shocked, just shocked, so all I could do was just nod. This is a picture of our dog, Murphy. We have no pictures of the two of us right after the proposal, since Murphy does not have opposable thumbs.
