Sara and Brian
We are getting so excited about our upcoming wedding
May 10th, 2008
Iberostar Grand Paraiso in Playa del Carmen, Mexico
THE PROPOSAL
After four years of dating...First of all, Brian had told me on Saturday June 16, 2007 that he didn't want to disappoint me but I wasn't going to get an engagement ring for my birthday. (June 17th) But he told me to not let it hinder my birthday on Sunday and that we still would have fun. He told me he had got me a few presents though and one of them was jewelry so I thought I was getting a gemstone ring, then he hinted that he got me the handbag that I wanted, and that he was going to take me on a trip somwhere. He said we would be going to Epcot @ Disney on my birthday because he wanted to take me to dinner at one of the countries. So Sunday morning rolled around and he told me to stay in the house while he hid my presents in his vehicle. We left for Epcot Sunday morning and he told me not to peak in the car because he had hid presents everywhere. I was so excited thinking I was getting the handbag I wanted that I wasn't upset anymore about not getting an engagement ring. So we got to Epcot and before we got out of the car I asked if I could open my presents and he said no, I'd have to wait until after we were done at the park. I was freaking out thinking someone would steal my new handbag in the car and I wouldn't even be able to see what it looked like. So we went on with our day at Epcot then went to Italy for dinner. It was a great dinner. He told them it was my birthday and they should make a big deal of it (he was really trying to embarrass me) He told them to bring me a cannoli with a candle in it but they ended up bringing him a cannoli and me a chocolate mousse with a candle in it and a guy playing the accordion sang Happy Birthday to me in Italian in a gorgeous opera voice. So we left and I wasn't suspecting anything but gifts when we returned to the car. They have a fireworks show at 9p at Epcot so we walked around the park for awhile then we stopped by the fence to save our spots for the show. We sat down and relaxed for awhile. Brian kept feeling at his pockets but I wasn't suspecting anything. He pointed out that he had a card in his pocket and was hinting that it had to deal with "the trip" so I thought it was a birthday card with a trip voucher in it. He was playing with the card like he was going to give it to me then he would take it away. He then stood up and I looked at him and he said he was trying to see if he still had his keys and his cards (he does this all the time so I still wasn't suspecting anything) He then told me to stand up because the fireworks would be starting soon and everyone would be crowding around us. So he handed me the card and told me to read it very slowly. I started reading and when I opened the card to read the inside I saw him out of the corner of my eye getting down on one knee. At this point my heart was beating out of my chest. I quickly read the remainder of the card and at the bottom it said "Will you marry me" I looked at him and he took my hand with his right hand and held the ring in his left hand. I only remember hearing the word "devoted" because I was so caught up in the moment but he later told me the whole speech. He said "You inspire me everyday to be a better person, I devote my life to you, I will love you all my life, will you marry me" I was crying and he hugged and kissed me and a few people around us starting clapping. I was such in shock that I put my hand out for him to put the ring in my hand and he said "No, I'm putting it on your hand" So then he slipped the ring on my finger and then the fireworks show started.
IT WAS PERFECT!!!
