Vendor Reviews
Orbitz.com
– F – Not Recommended!!!
We booked a package for DH’s parents months before the wedding. Then the day they are supposed to leave for Hawaii, we find out (on our own) that the airlines changed the flight times and Orbitz never bothered to tell us! Needless to say, they missed their flight and we had to buy another one for over $2,000! When DH tried to call “customer service” to see what we could do, his call was directed to someone in Russia!
Then, they were booked at the wrong hotel and all the “customer service” representative would tell me is that the system never makes mistakes! So we had to eat the cost and book them at the right hotel!
There’s more to the story. If you want to hear it, page me with your email. Basically, do not ever use Orbitz!!!

The flight was great and they took really good care of my dress! Isn't that all we care about? ;)
The Kahala Resort
(wedding night accommodations) – A+ – Highly recommended!
The room was so beautiful and all the staff was incredibly nice! It was so hard to leave!
Jenny Lee Bridal
(
wedding gown
) – A+ – Highly recommended!
I loved my dress and Jenny was so nice! She would stay at her studio late just so I could come in for fittings and changed the dress any way I wanted! She also cut my veil for me (something she doesn’t usually do) when it was too long.

Loved the jewelry and they didn't look cheap!
Suetake Bros.
(
wedding rings
) – A+ – Highly recommended!
I can't recommend Mr. Suetake enough! He made the rings for most of our married law school classmates and gave us amazing deals! Our rings cost us less than half of what they would have if we had bought them from a retail place and they were custom made!

bridesmaids’ attire

The dresses turned out great! The girls looked hot and they made them for me in a color that they don’t sell in the stores! If you buy 4 dresses, they'll make them in any color you want. Plus, they gave me extra fabric to make the sashes for the flowergirl dresses!
Erin Cole
(
bridesmaids' hair pins)
– A+ – Highly recommended!
These handmade hair pins were so pretty and complimented the dresses perfectly! I love them!!!
After Hours Formal
(groomsmens’ attire) – A – Recommended
I recommend them even if one of their sales people was a total idiot and claimed not to have the best man’s suit and sent us on a wild goose chase (more of the story if you want, just page me with your email). One of the groomsmen’s suits was too big and they changed it out on the spot. Overall, a good experience.
Dorys Foltin
(hair and makeup) – A+ – Highly recommended!
Dorys was great! She was so nice and everything came out beautiful! One of my bridesmaids even said her makeup looked better than on her wedding day! She’s a miracle worker! Usually my eye makeup gets onto my lower lids, making for a “raccoon face” but even with all my sobbing, there wasn’t a hint of mascara and my lashes stayed firmly in place!
Lissa Wilson of The Wedding Planners
(wedding planner) – A+ – Highly recommended!
I can’t say enough good things about Lissa! She kept me sane, calm, and dealt with my mom when she was in hysterics about the flowers (read the florist review). She also somehow charmed my uncle (the officiant known as the hanging judge) into doing the ceremony her way! I could go on and on about her but she was by far the best cost of the wedding! I would recommend her to everyone! My cousin is even using hiring Lissa for her wedding!
Luana Hills Country Club
(ceremony and reception venue) – A+ – Highly recommended!
The food was great (or so I hear), the pre-ceremony beverages were yummy (or so I hear), and it was the most beautiful venue! Even my local guests said it was gorgeous and they had never been there before. The best part was, after the ceremony, we got to take golf carts out to the 11th hole to take pictures. It was soo much fun!!! It was like being on a Disneyland ride! You can’t believe you’re on a golf course. It was so beautiful and a nice after wedding moment with just me and DH riding through a forest on a golf cart.
Brad Uyehara, Reve Photography
– A+ – Highly recommended!
Brad and his assistant Kaipo were amazing! They were so nice and accomodating and the photos came out great! We didn't even notice them snapping away for most of the wedding but they got shots of everything! The day after photo shoot was a blast even if it was soo hot!!!
Yvonne Floral

Ok, so even with the drama, I have to give Yvonne an A since everything turned out so beautiful! So here’s the story: two days before the wedding, I get a call from my planner telling me that my shipment of orchids from Singapore have come in and they are all dead. There isn’t enough time to get another shipment and Yvonne wants to replace the orchids with roses. No way! The theme of the wedding is orchids and I really really did not want roses! We all freaked out for a while and got a call that Yvonne had called all her contacts and scrounged up the flowers and would make everything beautiful. It didn’t bother me all that much since they were only flowers, I was still marrying the man of my dreams, but my mom was livid! She said something to the effect of, “I don’t care of she has to get her @ss on a plane to Singapore to get the flowers! The f*cking theme of the wedding is fricken orchids! Not roses! If we wanted roses we would have ordered them!” My dad had never seen her that mad. Anyway, even with all that, everything was gorgeous and people were more than happy to take the centerpieces home!
Yvonne also emailed me after the wedding to apologize for all the misunderstandings. She has great taste and
design
instincts!
Jeff Peterson
(
ceremony musician
) – A – Recommended
About a couple weeks before the wedding I got a call from the planner saying that Jeff forgot we had booked him and had accidentally booked another wedding for the same day! He was going to do the other wedding and referred us to someone else since the other couple wanted Hawaiian music. My planner kicked into action and got him for ours! The music was great and everyone loved his playing so I’m happy!
Sweet Stop Hawaii
(
cake
) – A+ – Highly recommended!
The cake was so yummy that people had multiple pieces! It was one of the highlights! It wasn't overwhelmingly sweet and was the perfect end to the meal! I just wish we could have had more cake! We'll be ordering a mini replica for our anniversary. ;)
