We were married on January 12, 2008 in Austin, Texas. We had a wonderful weekend full of love, laughter and memories with our friends and family. Here are some of our favorite photos and memories from the day.

Our wedding rings, were purchased from weddingvowrings.com. They were laser-engraved with the following scripture:
"O Divine Master, grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love."

The Ceremony

Our ceremony was based on the ceremony outlined in the United Methodist Hymnal, "A Service of Christian Marriage." It was officiated by our good friend Rachel, a Catholic layminister, and combined a mix of Catholic, Methodist and Christian Science hymns and traditions.

The Reception

Following the ceremony, we hosted a dinner reception just a few blocks away, at the romantic Austin's Inn at Pearl Street. We rented out the inn for the weekend for our families and had them do our catering as well, a yummy Italian buffet!

Our decor for the reception featured lots of dark red details, including Texas-themed chocolates in red bags, which were a nod to our adopted state, and the fact that Karen teaches Texas History!

More Details

My dress was an A-line gown with strapless sweetheart neckline by Mon Cheri Couture. I especially loved the bustled train in the back--like a silk waterfall!

Karen debated dress-or-suit for a long time, but finally decided on a white suit from Banana Republic--and a beautiful tiara from David's Bridal!

Our bridesmaids wore dresses from Alfred Angelo in the color "Claret"; choice of style is up to them. The guys got their tuxes from Tuxedo Junction. I love these pictures--they were all such wonderful friends to have on hand!

Our DJ, Shari from Tunes Across Texas, did an amazing job and kept absolutely EVERYBODY dancing all night long!

Our beautiful bouquets--white callas and red tulips for the brides, and white tulips for the bridesmaids, were done by Callas Flowers of Austin.

Our cake, by A Wedding Cake Moment. I love the one of our friends' son TJ looking at it in awe. :)

They were great. The pastor is a really wonderful man. If we lived in Austin, this would be the church we'd go to.

Reception Location - Austin's Inn At Pearl Street
So far, so good. Lovely place, right in downtown Austin. Jill, the owner, has been very helpful and friendly so far.

She is FANTASTIC! We love her work, love her, and are so excited to have her photograph our wedding!

Disc Jockey - Tunes Across Texas
We've experienced good communication so far, and their online planning tools are very user-friendly. The price is good, too.

Cake - Karin Dehmer, A Wedding Cake Moment
Karin's very sweet, has a lot of experience, and our tasting with her was fantastic. She was also great at not pushing towards something more fancy and expensive that we didn't want.

Florist - Callas Flowers
We had a great meeting with Sue from Callas Flowers and they are able to work within our budget.
