Katie & Jordan
We were married in Duck, NC at the Sanderling Resort. Because of Jordan's upcoming deployment, we planned the wedding in 40 days. We had 50 of our family and friends witness one of the happiest days of our lives. If you plan to use any of these photos, please credit Lacey Gadwill. GETTING READY
The girls watching me get ready.
I was pretty much crying the whole day (of happiness, of course).
The girls all wore shades of green. They picked out their own dresses. I highly recommend this is you don't have much time.
My lovely mom, snapping me in.
One of favorite details of the day, my green shoes.
The best part (and most popular) part of the dress....the jacket.
The best Matron of Honor, my sister.
Jordan's brother, Fraser, came over with my gift from Jordan.
Jordan gave me a gorgeous necklace, which was a pretty big surpirse because he had been training up until the day before the wedding. I'm not sure how he did it!
And across the street.....
He is wonderful.
One of my favorite pictures of the night. Jordan's dad helping with the uniform.
I gave Jordan a compass....so he can always find his way back to me.
And we're off!
THE CEREMONY
Seeing Jordan for the first time.
I love this picture. My family gave me away.
Reading my vows
Jordan reading his vows
The hardest thing to find was an available officiant. Jordan's uncle got ordained online and did a wonderful job!
The first kiss as husband and wife
So happy.
A moment to ourselves.
PORTRAITS
The boys.
Another one of my favorites.
DETAILS
My handkerchief.
My shoes
The rings.
I gave the guys silver mint julep cups because it was Kentucky Derby Day and they were missing the race. I found out later that bets were placed about 10 seconds before I walked down the aisle.
The bridesmaid's bouquets. Renee from BLOOMS is amazing.
I am a huge jelly belly fan, so the guests got a mason jar full of juicy pear jelly bellys.
We had trees coming out of the tables. It was neat! THE RECEPTION The First Dance to Stand by Me. The bridal party, watching us dance. I love this picture of my grandmother and me. I had to put this picture in. My sister spent half the night under my dress, trying to fix my bustle. Make sure you can dance in your bustle without it come undone! Laughing during my sister's toast. It was wonderful. Cutting the cake. Group shot! (look at my face) Let the dancing begin! Love this shot of Jordan. Why Lacey Gadwill ROCKS Vendors: Photography: Lacey Gadwill Photography: A+ Lacey is amazing, as I hope you can see from my photos. I got them back and was completely floored. The minute I started planning the wedding, I knew I wanted a photo-journalist taking the pictures. Lacey is friendly and on the ball. Do realize though, that she is a photo-journalist. So if you want a photographer telling you exaclty how to pose, etc, Lacey might not be for you. She is really behind the scenes and completely spectacular. Weekend Venue: The Sanderling Resort and Spa: As a Hotel: B I am separating these two factors because I love the Sanderling and I want to be fair. There was a major mix up when it came to my mom's house and it caused my family and a few friends to be without accomidations for a few key hours the day before the ceremony. The Sanderling was completely apologetic and gave all of them rooms at the hotel, but it was a problem, so I can't give them a perfect score. I do have to say that once my family got into the house, it was amazing! And the bridesmaid's house and our bridal suite were wonderful too. As a Reception Venue: A The Sanderling was wonderful as a reception venue. All of the staff were wonderful and friendly. The food was great and they made the wedding planning process a breeze. They are busy people and sometimes hard to track down, but everything worked out perfectly. Flowers: BLOOMS: A+ I can't say enough about Renee at BLOOMS. She is absolutely amazing and the flowers were incredible. I screamed when I saw them. She also handled the lanterns, aisle runner, and trees on our tables. Worth the money. Favors: Candydirect.com A+ and Specialtybottle.com Both websites were so easy to deal with. This was really my only DIY project and everyone loved the Jelly Bellys. Dress: Bridal Classiques: B+ My dress was Pronovias and I loved it! The reason I'm not giving Bridal Classiques a perfect score is that they ordered my dress too small. The dress just hands down didn't fit when it came in and it should have. It was fixed by our seamstress, so it all worked out. The dress was gorgeous and I recommend Pronovias to anyone who wants to feel gorgeous on their wedding day! The dress really stole the show and that's hard to do, standing next to a gorgeous guy in a uniform.
