Our Wedding

Most of all, thank you to wonderfully creative and support knottie girlinthemoon for creating so many beautiful things that I could never do on my own! Our wedding had a music and vintage inspired them, but mostly we just tried to keep things really fun, and it turned out to be such a great night. I have some items for sale- blue & brown ribbon, menu holders, my veil, shoes that were never worn (pictured at the very bottom),I Do letters, and some Thank You decals for sale. The ladies got ready at the Georgian Terrace Hotel in Midtown

We watched the Beverly Hills 90210 DVDs I bought just to watch while getting ready- it was great!

These were a last minute purchase bc I realized my other ones wouldn't be good for my wide feet (they are from David's Bridal and they dyed them in 2 days!)

My sister did such an awesome job with the makeup!

My best friend was fascinated by the individual fake lashes we all wore

My bouquet

There was a child's bday party going on at Fernbank

Seeing each other for the first time

My sister and best friend were watching and crying, making me cry more!

Our favors and placecards were CDs with a ticket . My DH created the ticket - he was so proud of himself:)

Inside the CDs were the "liner notes", a listing of each song on the CD, which were chosen from concerts we had been together (we've been to over 40 together). I embossed the outside with the Thank You- they were Martha Stewart from Michael's (cleaned out about 3 locations of those!)

Our menu cards, made by the fabulous knottie girlinthemoon

Our tables were named after Atlanta area concert venues

Our programs that my BM designed and I had printed at Sam Flax. We ordered large craft sticks online and spray glued the two sides together

Our polaroid guest book was a huge hit

My brother played the guitar for the ceremony, playing mostly Celtic and Spanish tunes, with 'All You Need is Love' as the processional

My Grandma wrote an amazing and funny speech that stole the whole wedding!

Our cake was a pound cake with a cannoli filling and chocolate ganache icing

Being announced as Mr. & Mrs.

We danced to "Paper Moon" by Whiskeytown

My dad and I danced to "Uncle John's Band" by the Grateful Dead

Our Southern buffet was a huge hit!

One of my favorite parts of the night was just seeing people I never get to see

There was lots of dancing that night...

Hottie knotties Girlinthemoon and SL&SL

We did karaoke at the end of the night..it was hilarious!

We hadn't planned on a big 'exit' since we stayed till the very end to dance with friends...

Since I can't leave these off, here's our invites!

These were the stamps on the RSVP postcards, designed by knottie girlinthemoon and printed on stamps.com

These went on the outside envelope of the invites

My RD dress, except mine had straps (from JCrew)

A couple of examples of our table names. I took the B&W photos, wrapped cardstock with wrapping paper in 2 different prints, mounted the photos on brown paper and then put it all together.

OOT guest newsletter- I got this template from a knottie in Atlanta that I now cannot remember- I am so sorry but thank you to whoever you are!!

My mom did these great bathroom baskets and people really appreciated them

OOT guest bags: We made stickers out of the same stamp design. Inside there were homemade peach muffins (thanks Mom!), coke & water, sunscreen, tylenol, etc

The CDs all laid out and ready to go (we set them out alphabetically by last name)

Shoes for sale- Evita by Grazia, Ivory, Size 10

Honeymoon!

Barcelona, Spain was the perfect place for a HM...It had enough cultural and restaurant choices for us but we also took a lot of time to relax at the beach or the 2 pools at our hotel. We stayed at the Hotel 1898 in Las Ramblas and it was probably our favorite thing about the trip. If you'd like more photos or recs about our trip, let me know.

Our hotel rocked!

Ceremony Location - Fernbank Museum of Natural History
Our ceremony and reception took place at Fernbank. It was a beautiful and unique venue. I had heard nothing but good things about the event coordinator there, but unfortunately towards the end of planning and on the wedding day, this was not the case for us. I am still hoping to get this matter resolved and I would still get married again at Fernbank, but I am reserving a grade right now. Feel free to page me or email me if you'd like more info and I can fill you in.

Officiant - Dr. Marcy Hardy
Love Dr. Hardy! She is our friend's mother and she was a terrific officiant. Grade: A++++

Caterers - Bold American Catering
We have heard nothing but amazing things about the southern buffet we had. The food was incredible and the service was almost perfect. There were a couple of small issues on the wedding day, but overall they are highly recommended. Grade: A+

Cake Creator - Prettycakes by Meg
The cake was just amazing- everyone loved it and we've loved eating the leftovers:) She is a super nice person and great all around. Grade: A+

Florist - On Occasions of Atlanta
I love Carla! I think the photos speak for her work more than I even could. I really cannot believe how she was able to turn our relatively small budget for flowers into what she did. I was so blown away by her kindness, creativity, and the arch she did for the ceremony made me cry just looking at it. Highly recommended!! Grade: A++++

Photographer - 6 of Four Creations
We originally we supposed to have our friends who are wedding photogs in CA to come out and shoot the wedding. A week before the wedding, one of them was in the hospital with an appendectomy. With the help of the amazing Meredith Wullkotte, we were able to secure Chris and Katie with 6 of Four Creations. We feel blessed that we found them. They are such great people and we are overwhelmed with their amazing work. Highly recommended!! Grade: A++++

Disc Jockey - Tripp West, Liquid Mind Production
Tripp is a really great DJ. We were very picky selecting a DJ and he agreed to play exactly what we wanted, as well as agreeing to do karaoke at the end of the night. Except for a couple of deviations from our agreed-upon playlist and a couple of not so nice comments about my drunk cousins, he was awesome and played past our agreed time. Very recommended- Grade A

Invitations - Hello Lucky
I absolutely loved our invitations...the service was amazing and the quality was well worth the price. Grade: A++

Rental Company - Chair Covers and Linens (linens) and We Rent Atlanta (chivari chairs)
I refused to pay extra with Bold American for non white or black linens. I really wanted all the side and buffet tables to be blue and the tables to be brown with blue napkins. We ordered linens from Chair Covers and Linens- Jeff there rocks! It was a fairly easy process to pick the linens up on Friday and to return them in the paid for bag on Monday. Grade: A Chivari chairs- We rented these from We Rent Atlanta at the last minute (my mom decided they were necessary) and overall it was an easy and positive experience. I'd recommend them as well. Grade: A

My Dress - Melissa Sweet, Priscilla of Boston
I had good service at POB pretty much all the way through, although I don't think I'm really the typical POB bride. Alterations were pricey but since my dress's fabric and cut was so unique, I felt that it was worth it. Very recommended- Grade: A

Bridesmaid Dresses - Vera Wang, Bridals by Lori
We had a great experience ordering and selecting our dresses with their BM department. We got a 15% discount off the dresses and they came in less than 2 months. Highly recommended. Grade: A+

Hair Stylist - Bridget, Salon Red Decatur
Bridget has been cutting my hair for several years, so it was just natural that she would do my wedding day hair. I really liked what she did, although I couldn't believe how expensive wedding 'dos are! She also did 2 BMs hair and they looked great too. Highly recommended: Grade A

Makeup Artist - Laura Simon
I'll refrain from grading Laura, since she is my sister and was the MOH. All I can say is, she rocks and I think the photos speak for themselves.

Wedding Coordinator - Meredith Wullkotte
Meredith was some of the best money we spent for the wedding. She went above and beyond the expectations of "Day of Coordinator". When our photographer crisis happened, she stepped right in and saved the day. She was always available for email and phone consultations and came to our final walkthrough. She also had to deal with the Fernbank issue I mentioned above and for that, I am sorry. DH is convinced that the wedding wouldn't have been near as great if it weren't for her (and he didn't think a coordinator was necessary) and I have to agree with him. Highly recommended! Grade: A++++

Honeymoon Destination - Barcelona, Spain
We purchased a hotel and flight package on travelocity. We flew British Airways and stayed at the Hotel 1898 for 7 nights.

Other Vendor - Dance lessons, Mr. Twinkletoes
DH was very anti dance lessons, but finally gave in when I said this was what I wanted for my bday present. We took 4 lessons with Eddie and he helped us learn a routine that wasn't stiff or overly choreographed for a very unique song. The dance was a big hit and now DH is all about taking more lessons! Highly recommended. Grade: A++

Other Vendor - Rehersal Dinner, Avra Greek Tavern and after party at Gordon Biersch
Avra was a great location for the RD. The upstairs private room is beautiful. Both managers were very helpful and the night went very smoothly. Everyone was impressed by the decor and the food. We also had an after party at Gordon Biersch in the upstairs private area which was really fun. Glenda there is so nice to work with! Both Highly recommended- Grades: A+

Other Vendor - Calligraphy, La Belle Fete
Nikki is so nice to work with. Her calligraphy was beautiful and service was prompt. I thought the price was well worth it. Highly recommended- Grade: A+
