The only thing that I miss about wedding planning is all of the DIY stuff, so I decided to start making wedding products for other knotties. If you want me to make invitations, pocketfolds, STD’s, programs, unity candles, favor tags, table cards, seating charts, or anything else wedding related, you can contact me at

Or visit my website that is currently under construction:

Now back to your regularly scheduled knotting.

These are only the pictures we took with my digital camera. We took 6 rolls of film while we were there, so more pics to come!!

We left for Sandals Grande, St. Lucia on November 12th. We had to be at the airport by 6am… we were tired, but so super excited! Here’s us on the plane in Philly before our flight started

Our first pic in St. Lucia… going to dinner:

Some beautiful shots from the beach…

Here’s the Black Pearl- the actual ship used in the Pirates of the Caribbean movie

Our married hands and feet in St. Lucia. Can you see my bruised big toes!?! OUCH!

It’s never too early to start drinking!

The huge sail boat that was docked on our beach the first day:

A few pics of us (that weren’t actually self-taken…imagine that!)

By the second day we found the small pool over by the huts. It was perfect for napping and reading…we took advantage :)

Pictures from our hike on Pigeon Island up to Fort Rodney. It’s right next to the Grande and only $5 per person… totally worth it!!

The “resting” point.

View from the resting point to the top of Fort Rodney:

Yay, we made it to the top!

Our last day :(

Harry’s Savoy Ballroom:
Harry’s was fantastic! DH and I are so happy that we chose to have our reception there! We had the entire venue to ourselves so we didn’t have to worry about anything. The cocktail hour was perfect. We had the entire patio room and outside patio and guests were having so much fun sitting out on the patio enjoying their food and drinks. I also loved the fact that the bridal suite was upstairs so it was away from everyone, however it had a balcony overlooking the patio so that we could still see our guests down below. DH and I were sitting out there looking at everyone that came to our wedding and just enjoying each other and the beautiful weather that we had. Robin, the coordinator at Harry’s was outstanding. I can not recommend her and the entire venue enough. It was wonderful!

Laura Novak Photography:
I don’t even know where to start with Laura. She is so out of this world fantastic! She is a great photographer, but an even better person. She is like a member of our family after photographing my wedding as well as both of my sister’s weddings. She also has taken our engagement pictures in October 2005, which we LOVE, and our family portraits on the beach in August, 2006. Her work speaks for itself. I HIGHLY recommend Laura Novak Photography. You will not be disappointed. I think our pictures speak for themselves! :)

Jay West:
The service at Jay West was excellent! The ladies there are so awesome and they really care about you. They have a great selection of dresses and I would recommend the store to anyone. I also had my alterations done there and the lady was so sweet and she did a great job!

Steve & Company:
We had Allen DJ our wedding and he was wonderful! He had everyone out on the dance floor all night. He is a very nice person with an extremely outgoing personality…you will like him immediately. My sisters used Allen for their weddings as well and he did a phenomenal job. I highly recommend him!

Garden of Eden:
The flowers for the bouquets and at the ceremony were gorgeous! Dana at GOE did a wonderful job on them. I got so many compliments on them and I was extremely happy with the way they turned out!

Celebrations Design:
Tom at Celebrations did my reception flowers which I thought turned out beautiful. The guest tables looked awesome and he even added real fall leaves to the flowers.

Alicia’s Limo’s:
We had Jason drive our H2 Hummer Limo from Alicia’s. He was early picking up the girls and taking us to the church. We were on time everywhere we went and he stopped at different places for us so that the boys could get food before the cocktail hour started! I highly recommend Alicia’s Limos and I would use them again in the future.

The Rushes:
We used The Rushes for the RD the Friday night before the wedding. We reserved a private room upstairs, but when we got there, they sat us in the main dinning room and put some borders up to block us from the rest of the restaurant. MIL was furious with them. It was kind of loud so DH and I didn’t say much as far as speeches go… we just handed out our gifts to everyone. The food was excellent however and we will surely be going back there for many more dinners!

Liberty Travel:
We used Liberty Travel in Deptford, NJ to plan our honeymoon. Rae Mertz was great to work with and she had a lot of reviews and recommendations for each of the places we were considering. FI and I had our hearts set on St. Lucia ever since we began discussing our honeymoon and we knew we wanted Sandals Grande. She helped us find the best prices and also encouraged us to book our flight through Expedia because it was cheaper then what she could offer us! When we originally went in to book, I mentioned that my sister saved $100 by booking on one of Liberty Travels “Sandals Nights.” Rae gave me the $100 off the price of our trip just for knowing about it! So don’t forget to mention “Sandals Night” while booking at Liberty Travel :)

Sandals Grande, St. Lucia:
I don’t even know where to begin! The Grande was gorgeous! It was BY FAR the best resort of the 3 Sandals on the island of St. Lucia. DH and I visited both of the other Sandals Resorts and they didn’t even compare to the Grande. The Grande was the most beautiful of the three and had a nicer beach area. There were tons of couples from the other resorts at our beach all week.
FOOD: The food there was excellent. We ate breakfast at Bayside almost every morning because they had a buffet so you could get what you wanted. Two mornings we ate at Josephine’s because DH just loved their wheat waffles and cinnamon syrup! We ate lunch at Barefoot by the Sea every afternoon because they had great Cheese Burgers, Nacho’s, and Chicken Sandwiches and you just couldn’t beat the view! We went to several places for dinner: Barefoot by the Sea was very romantic and had excellent Filet Mignon, Shrimp, and Pepper Pot Soup…yum! We also went to the London Pub one night and Toscanini’s Italian Restaurant 2 nights. Both were VERY yummy! We ventured over to Regency one night and went to La Toc. It was VERY good and we highly recommend venturing over there. We tried making reservations at Kimono’s, but they were booked up for the week. We called the night we got there too… DH was very upset that we didn’t get to go there! Anyway, the Grande had apps in the bar area next to the lobby every night. They also had different musicians come in and play. DH and I went up there before dinner every night to listen to the music and get a drink before dinner. Barefoot by the Sea also has snacks (i.e. pizza, nacho’s popcorn, etc.) until around 4:30pm in case you get hungry after lunch. Sitting in the sun all day definitely makes you hungry…and thirsty ;)
DRINKS: St. Lucia is famous for its Piton Mountains. Therefore, a must have while you are on the island is their Piton Beer. It was very good and DH and I drank it all week! The only other beer they have there is Heineken. The Olde London Pub does have Guinness, but this is the only place that they serve it. The “house” wine that they serve is Beringer Stone Cellars. It was decent wine, but you can buy more expensive wines at some of the restaurants during dinner. I just stuck with my house Pinot Grigio… it was tasty!
EXCURSIONS: We choose to only do one excursion while we were there so that we could spend most of our HM relaxing! We did the Tropical Jeep Safari and it was wonderful!! It was a great way to see the beautiful island of St. Lucia and shop in some of the small little towns. If you get the least bit of motion sickness, make sure you take Dramamine… the roads in St. Lucia are out of control! Anyway, the Jeep tour was amazing. We stopped in a little town that looked over all of Castries and the port were the cruise ships dock. We then went through the mountains and saw so many beautiful things! We stopped at 2 different fruit stands on the side of the road and sampled fruit for $1 per person… it was so worth it! We also drove through the banana plantation. About half-way through we stopped and hiked down to a waterfall that was absolutely breathtaking. We then went to a fresh mineral water pool and went swimming. It was a nice way to cool down after the hike! The Jeep is stocked with water, soda, and Piton Beer so make sure you’re thirsty! I highly recommend this excursion… I’m so glad that we decided to do it… it was a great way to see the island!
Also, next to the Grande is Pigeon Island and Fort Rodney. It’s about a 10 minute hike to the top and the view is gorgeous! It cost only $5 a person to hike to Fort Rodney, and it was so worth it! DH and I loved it so much that we did it twice!
DH and I also did the water bikes and the Hobie Cat sailing a few times during the week. It was so much fun, especially the bikes! There were a ton of couples that were tubing, kayaking, parasailing, and snorkeling as well. There’s always something to do!
OVERALL: DH and I highly recommend the Grande to anyone that is considering St. Lucia for a HM destination! It was fabulous and we would go back in a second! There was always something to do, or nothing to do if that’s what you wanted! DH and I found the small pool (by the private huts) on Tuesday and spent the rest of our afternoons there relaxing and reading our books! It was a lot quieter then the 2 main pools and it was great for late afternoon naps and swimming!

Robbins Jewelry:
FI bought my engagement ring from Robbins back in May of 2005. We then went back and bought our bands from them as well. FI was so indecisive about what band he wanted and they were so patient with us. There was no pressure to purchase at all, which is always a plus. We went to the Robbins in Wilmington, DE (as opposed to the one on Jewelers Row in Philly) and we saved a ton of money on taxes!

David’s Bridal:
We bought our BM dresses from David’s Bridal in Deptford, NJ. I wanted to go with David’s because the prices are reasonable and I have BM’s from up and down the East Coast. It was just easy to go with a national store like David’s for ordering reasons. The dresses were here early and look great. They were very easy to work with. My only complaint is that the store constantly calls you if you didn’t purchase your wedding dress from them. It’s very annoying.

After Hours Tux’s:
No complaints! They got everything right and the guys looked so handsome! I would definitely recommend them!

Magnet Valley:
I ordered 8.5 x 11 magnet sheets from Magnetvalley.com so that I could make my STD Magnets. The company was fast with my order and the quality of the magnets were great! They were thick (20 mil) which is exactly what I was looking for! The magnet sheets came with a glossy picture top so that I could print directly on them with my inkjet printer. Very easy!

Paper Style:
I’ve ordered so much from PaperStyle.com… they’re so great! Every time I order from them, it comes fast and there’s a little note from one of their employees saying “I threw in extra envelopes” or “Good luck with your wedding plans!” I always order from them and then print the information myself because it’s a great way to save money, but it still looks classy.

Sensible Weddings:
I was looking for a certain BM cosmetic bag for my girls and SensibleWeddings.com had them for the cheapest price on the web! The bags are fantastic! I’m so glad that I ordered one for myself as well. Along with the cosmetic bags, I ordered my cake and knife server which turned out gorgeous. It was a great company to work with and they had very affordable prices.

Wrapped Hershey’s:
We used this company for our personalized Hershey Bars. They came out great and we got a ton of compliments on them! I highly recommend them!

Written in Thread:
I ordered my monogrammed “Something Blue” dress label from WrittenInThread.com. I ordered it on a Monday and it was here by Thursday. It’s super cute and it’s something that I’ll have forever!

For Your Party:
I ordered my Eat, Drink, and Be Married personalized bar coasters from ForYourParty.com. When I went to order them on-line there was a problem with their website. The woman I spoke to through their Customer Service Department was so nice and helpful. She ordering everything for me and sent me an e-mail immediately so that I could see the design before she placed the order. The coasters are so nice!

Leilani Designs:
Words can’t even express how great it was to “meet” and work with Kimberly from Leilani Designs. I found a necklace I loved for my BM’s but it was out of my price range. I found Kimberly (who is also a fellow knottie!) and she was able to recreate my necklace for half the cost!! The necklaces are gorgeous! Once I seen them in person, I just had to order matching earrings for my girls as well! Kim is an excellent vendor and I highly recommend her!

Cap Catchers:
This company is great!! I ordered the GM personalized Cap Catchers from CapCatchers.com on a Friday morning and they were shipped on Monday morning! They look so great and I know they will be a huge hit with the boys! I also ordered one for FI and he was so excited when I gave it to him, that less then 5 minutes later I saw it hanging on our fridge with a cap in the “catcher!” They are very fun and make great gifts!

Rehman Custom Flags:
I ordered a personalized flag from Irene at RehmanCustomFlags.com. She is a very sweet lady and really has a fast turn-around. You can pick your colors and personalization and she will customize it for you. She’s great to work with and her flags are very durable! They look so cute hanging outside wherever you’re having your pictures taken!!
