About Us Eric and I met officially online through cyclingsingles.com, but only after I had a serendipitous conversation with a girl at a party! Eric had recently emailed me through the cycling website, but I was hesitant to actually meet someone I met on the internet in person. Luckily, at the party, I mentioned to this girl from my gym that I had gotten an email from a guy online and thought he was super cute, my age, raced cyclocross and was a cancer survivor--and turned out she knew him just from that info! How crazy in a city of what, 11 million people!!?? Since she knew him and could "give me the green light," I invited him to a party, and soon thereafter, we had our official first date at a Jim Gaffigan comedy performance! A year and one day later, Eric proposed to me on a sleeting, cold trail run in Michigan by pretending to stop and tie his shoe...only to look back up with me with my sparkly e-ring in his hand and his eyes full of tears before he even said a word! It was the happiest moment of my life and it was the perfect proposal, in my book! We moved from Chicago to Denver on February 1, 2007 because we love to play in the mountains! What a great decision! He's awesome and works out of Chicago for Bella Pictures. We love the Sears tower in the background to always remember Chicago! Other photosBack to Engagement PhotosBack to Top Us on our first snowshoeing excursion after moving to Denver.Me and the other love of my life, Saul, my 11 year old Chocolate Lab on another snowshoe excursion! He loves them! Also, Saul will be the only member of our wedding party by acting as our ring bearer. Another picture of Saul cause I can't resist--we put this pic on our STD's as a small accent.
Below is Eric and me after his big Ironman 101 race in early June. It was so exciting and he not only finished, but placed 4th in his age group! It was quite emotional!
This is my best friend, Liane--If I were having bridesmaids, Liane (Lili) and Kate (below) would be my girls! They are my girls, no matter what, so just having them there means so much to me!
Here's Kate--She's coming in July to have a bachelorette weekend with me--she suggested we either mountain bike or backpack--as she said "girly stuff, cause two girls doing it, makes it girly".....see why I love her so much?
This is my mom! I love her so much and hope she and my dad will move to colorado soon!
This is my friend, Betsy--I call her "B"....she is moving here from Chicago in September...and the recruitment has begun!
Engagement RingBack to Engagement PhotosBack to Top My amazing e-ring from Leber Jeweler in Chicago. They only deal in Canadian diamonds and we chose recycled platinum, as well....it's PEFECT! and the Asscher cut, which was the only thing I KNEW I wanted!Eric and me with the e-ring! Save the Weekend!Back to Engagement PhotosBack to Top The picture we used for our stds. We used Premiere Postcards online and it's so easy and fun! You just upload your pics (front, back, accent) and enter your text and addresses, and they send them for you! We invited our friends and family out to the "wild, wild west" of Breckenridge on the photo! The front has a vintage "greetings from Colorado" image and font. InvitationsBack to Engagement PhotosBack to Top Our invites from invitesite.com. They only do recycled or tree-free paper! I am really excited about the colors and think they look fun! A view of the inside--without the RSVP card and envelope. We also splurged for some zazzle stamps--it takes two stamps to mail them.So here's the second one! So darned cute! And we'll use these on the RSVP cards! Then, when they come back, I get to see my pooch on the front! The DressBack to Engagement PhotosBack to Top Here's my bargain wedding dress! $49 on Ebay! A Jcrew dress, new with tags and I am really excited about it--my mom is coming to do the alterations this weekend. However, I bought the exact same dress again on ebay again for $49 two sizes down, and it fits, so that saves her alot of trouble and gives us more time to play when she visits! Here's the back of the dress-I am thinking I'll wear a veil for the ceremony and a flower for the reception.Since my dress was such a bargain, I splurged on these handmade Italian cracked leather shoes! They are exactly what I need in that they have some height, but not too much, are wedges for the outdoor ceremony, are comfortable, have an ankle strap for dancing AND I'll wear them after! The hardest part of it all is not wearing them before! I LOVE them--My mom is knittng me a shawl similar to this one, but with a different stitch and more cropped, as it can be cool up in Breck on September first! Then, I get to wear it afterwards, too! This is the yarn I chose--it's a really soft peachy-pink.I originally planned to wear these awesome boots that I justified buying "for the wedding"! I still might wear them, depending on the weather! CeremonyBack to Engagement PhotosBack to Top We only have around 40 people coming to the wedding because we want it to be intimate. We also hope to have alot of symbolism in the ceremony, and will explain it in the program like this. We'll have his sister officiate and plan to pass the rings like these people did, for each guest to say a prayer or blessing over them for our marriage. What a beautiful idea...I think we're going to incorporate some readings from "The Prophet" as well as a hand-washing purification based on African tradition, using a gourd I have from my travels in Kenya.
ReceptionBack to Engagement PhotosBack to Top We're having the reception at this house that we've rented for the weekend--it's quite a party house! Can't wait!I'm using these fabrics to make table runners and such to bring in color, since we're not having a bridal party.Another fabric. And one more--not that I am planning on having babies anytime soon, but I think these would be super cute in a nursery someday! We're also using decorations just like this to hang from the second floor to add color and dimension, as well as these origami decorations and white lights and lanterns. We're having a small cake topper to cut, and then the rest will be cupcakes that look like this! So cute!I think we'll incorporate this phrase using napkins...
A few couples at our wedding will be celebrating their anniversaries, so we'll have small cakes for them to cut, too! bubbly-bride said when she did this, the man cried at the gesture! FlowersBack to Engagement PhotosBack to Top> Beautiful flowers that keep it simple, yet elegant. I would like a lot of dahlias, too, because they are so colorful, in season, and kind of whimsical.
I love this bouquet--if she'll tone it down just a little bit.
Nice Dahlia arrangement--hope to find a nice peachy orange color. The florist will also arrange some rings of flowers around the bases of some lanterns that we'll use outside on the decks. Out of town bagsBack to Engagement PhotosBack to Top I'm sewing our OOT bags out of fabric that matches our colors. I hope people reuse these for things like packing your delicates, or separating clothes while traveling.
We've also purchased Sigg aluminum water bottles for everyone so that there isn't alot of plastic bottle waste and people can stay hydrated at altitude!
HoneymoonBack to Engagement PhotosBack to Top
I love infinity pools and can't wait to drink a few margaritas around it! Plus, the place is supposed to have great snorkeling on their big beach!
Okay, so it's a terrible picture, but the whole reason we're going to the Big Island is so we can hike the volcano and see lava for the first time in my life.
Then, we spend the majority of our trip on Kauai, staying near the Na' Pali coast--we booked an awesome 3 bedroom house in Princeville with hot tub, nice deck, and it overlooks the ocean on a cliff--then you can hike down to secret beaches! WHOOHOO!
Another bad pic, but I am psyched to "tube the flume" on Kauai, where you ride inner tubes down old sugar cane flumes! I am also thrilled to finally get to ride in a helicopter and see this Na' Pali coastline!!!
