Amber and Murph
So, his name is Mike Murphy, but I call him Murph. We met when I started serving at a restaurant (in Nov. 2002) where he already worked, and Murph was what everyone called him, so it's, "I, Amber... take you, Murph!"
I took him for a beer after work one night and we have been together since! He moved in to my one-bedroom apartment less than six months later, and looking back it seems like we knew we would end up either hating each other or getting engaged! Luckily, it's the latter! (We bought a three-bedroom house in August of 2004... much roomier.)
He popped the question Christmas Eve 2005. Our engagement story is a little unique... we'd been talking about getting engaged, and we had just about enough money for him to buy the ring. So, my grandma (who is 82) had given us Christmas money in the fall and said, "I don't want to get out and shop this year, so buy what you want, wrap it, and show me what I got you on Christmas!" It was my idea to use our Christmas money toward the ring, but my stipulation was: propose to me in front of my Grandma! I thought it would be really special, since she (unknowingly) helped pay for it, and also since I sort of "knew it was coming."
He asked my dad's blessing, but my mom, sister, brother-in-law, and precious Mammaw were all surprised when he said he wanted me to "open" the first gift - and he got down on one knee right in my parents living room! My brother-in-law thought at first that he had tripped, and because he was so nervous and quiet about it my mom said, "What'd he say?" But, my grandma was sitting closest to me, and heard every word. That meant the world to me! I hope she'll be able to make it to our wedding! BTW... I hadn't seen the ring until he asked, and when I said "Yes!" I grabbed the ring out of the box and put it on myself, out of excitement, I guess. I realized that wasn't right, so I took it off and handed it back to him so he could put it on me.

Cheering on the Louisville Cardinals during the NCAA tournament first and second round games in Lexington, KY at Rupp Arena.
For the record, my loyalities lie elsewhere, and were tivo-ed that day.
