The Engagement - May 2, 2006

Jim asked me to go to dinner with him. It was a Tuesday night so I definitely was NOT expecting anything. He had been telling me for several days that he made a present for me. We went to one of our favorite restaurants, Monteray Bay on Mount Washington. On the way, he took a package that looked like a book out. It was beautifully wrapped with a white ribbon on it. He told me that I probably couldn't guess what it was. "Looks like a book to me". says I. He told me that I didn't know what kind of book. When we got to the restaurant, we had a great table. We ordered and then Jim told me to open the book. It turned out to be a gold diary book. In it, Jim had written page after page about how wonderful our relationship is and how glad he had met me. We have this joke about "rules" of relationships, so he called it Jim's Book of Rules. The next to the last page said, "Tell her how you can't live without her" and the last page said "Cheryl, Will you marry me?" I was so stunned I couldn't say anything. When I got to the last page, he pulled a box out of his pocket with the most beautiful engagement ring I have ever seen. It took me 10 minutes to get my composure back long enough to say YES! You can see the book in the picture that was taken shortly after. We are very excited about planning our wedding and can't believe how fast time is going!
